I cant wait.
Two bands I have always respected.
I just hope it will be as good as the previous albums.

Maybe Portishead can revive the world of trip hop

Yeah, that'd be nice, sigh.

Agreed

Although, I still think he has one more good album left....somewhere deep down inside.

Maybe even resolve differences with Massive Attack and rejoin
(which will never happen).
They are another band that has slumped a little.
Mezzanine is one of their best records but I was so turned off by 100th Window (with the exception of two tracks..the first and hidden track).

100th window isn't really that different from mezzanine though (obviously mezz is better)

Really? I guess, a little bit (hardlly any break beats, but nice samples). I thought Window was a very dull, dragged out record. At least with Mezz it had some upbeat tracks.

Have you Mezzanine fans checked out Sounds of the Satellites by Laika? I'm not sure how popular it is on obner, but it's definitely a must-have for trip-hop fans.

I'll have to check that out. I have Silver Apples of the Moon and I really dig it.

I have all four Laika albums, and they are all recommended (by me, anyway) to fans of trip-hop.

I hope to God that a new Portishead will be better than the Beth Gibbons/Rustin Man project.

I love Portishead and Talk Talk and plopped down $25 for an import release of that piece of crap.

100th Window sounds like the boring filler tracks that were left off Mezzanine for good reason.

I love Maxinquaye, but the rest of the Tricky solo collection has been pretty disappointing to me.

You didn't like Out of Season?!?!? Do yourself a favour, and listen to just the last track. I can't believe you don't think that's one of the greatest tracks ever, right up there with "Roads".

I thought it was painfully boring. I will give the last track a shot on your recommendation, especially if you are tossing it in with Roads.

I got Laika - Good Looking Blues a few weeks back, and after listening to that, I'm planning on getting all the rest of their albums. I like them because it's sort of like trip hop, but more instrumental rather than programmed. Plus, I really like her voice, it's very soft and fits the music well.

Well, most of it is whimsical, so put yourself in a Les Paul & Mary Ford frame of mind, and for the last track, just be patient. If you're a late period Talk Talk fan, you know of what I speak, when I say "patience".
