Thoughts? Good sounding track more in the Odelay vein. Not groundbreaking, a little repetitive, but something about hearing NEW Beck assures me that all is right in the world.....

mmmmm. i like. my friend saw beck on friday at a 'secret' show, and said the new stuff was more on the midnight vultures/odeley tip. which is totally fine by me.

i can't wait.

Dig the new track. Killer video.

Shynola is behind it. That's another good thing about that video. They hadn't produced a video in awhile and glad their back doing their thang.

Must've gone to the Echo show...I was stuck elsewhere that night, or else I would've been there...

Guero (from what I've briefly heard) is largely Odelay-type stuff, which isn't a surprise considering he's working with the Dusties again. I'd love to hear "Midnight Vultures" style stuff from him again, but Beck is Beck - save a few questionable lapses, I like it all...

Just MV better than most ;)

yeah it was @ the echo, i would've gone but i had to go to the el rey for the midnight movies/luna show. he also played a show at 1650 off hollywood & schrader on sat night, but i couldn't make it to that either. aaaaaaaand the week at the radio 4 show, he was there- and apparently i had arrived there just in time for radio 4 because my friends had lag. i swear.

I've gotta find out about one of these things beforehand (and actually go this time)...

Sweet - I was actually contractually obligated to be at a birthday party @ the Echo last Fri which got bumped downstairs to the "basement" due to that good ol' Scientologist.

The Echo basement = good stuff and a really nice space, now that it's renovated, btw...

wtf there's a basement? i've been there how many times and didn't know there was a basement! is there a seperate entrance for it, or do you get there from inside the venue?

Seperate entrance off of Glendale, now that there's that park directly behind it (instead of a parking lot - talk about MMouse in reverse!). You can get there through the club through the patio as well, but I don't know if they'd necessarily let you back into whatever show you were seeing.

Newly remodeled, it's got a bigger stage, and probably more capacity, but no "real" bar yet (it's set up on folding tables), and the restrooms need a bit of an overhaul...

The sound is good - brand new speakers - but I think they're using an older mixing board, so it cut out once or twice...

That's all I can think of for right now....

I just listened to the new cd. It's not his best cd althought it's not his worst ( I like it a lot beter than Midnite Vultures).

Some of the tracks sound like b sides to Odelay thanks to the return of the Dust Brothers...not that this is a bad thing.

There are still a lot of tracks on record that have catchy hooks and nice beats.

It's worth buying.

My favorite record will always be Mutations.

Any chance that this may not be the final mixes that you heard? Just curious.

Is Radio 4 still worth seeing live these days? I saw them in '02, but after what I heard about their latest record I sorta gave up on them. I should go regardless.

I see where he's coming from; I didn't hate it but I didn't agree with everyone fawning over it. The first half was excellent with 'Golden Age' and 'Guess I'm Doing Fine' but after a couple of listens I found it fairly boring. Maybe it was become every Johnny Come Lately reviewer insisted on calling it his 'Blood on the Tracks' which got fucking tired after awhile. I'll give it another spin soon to see if it's received a mood dependent bad review on my part.

Yes. I'm not too big on Stealing of a Nation, but the tracks did sound better live. They played a good mix of new stuff, as well as old.

the EP on itunes is fucking sick. all of those crazy video game noises mixed in with nutty nutty beck? incredible.

this album is going to be so ill.
