money and sucky bands aside, i can't stand the venues these shows are played in. they're huge--i prefer places a little more intimate.

As a huge U2 fan, I spent $150 (regular price not scalper bought) on their last tour and sat in a shitty nosebleed seat. While I STILL had a great time, I promised myself that I wouldn't spend that much money again on one of their shows unless I was assured a seat near the front.

This tour, I highly considered going to a different city to see them, but the prices were the same everywhere I looked. I'd rather spend $178 to go to Coachella and see LOTSA bands vs $150 to see just one.

On topic, I can say that I've spent $100/ticket before. In the height of my matchbox twenty loving days. I never sat further back than the fifth row though, so at the time, for me, it was always worth it.

I was assured that my Dustin Diamond stalking incident would never be revealed. First, my heart is broken by that restraining order and now this...

I don't have 150 bucks to spare on groceries some weeks, let alone cough it up for a bunch of millionaire schmucks howling on about being stuck in moments they can't out of.

And I say that as someone who's been a U2 fan since Boy.

but I wouldn't think twice about spending $85 to see Prince again, or double that for a decent Springsteen ticket

that's why i only go to small clubs to see bands, once they get big, they don't need my money, and it's just too impersonal and I don't want to go anymore. Plus it costs too dang much and getting tickets is even a hassle.

I saw U2 at Ohio State. We were in the last row on the field and couldn't see crap.

I saw Tom Petty at the United Center. We were midway up in the upper deck in the corner. We couldn't see crap.

They might as well been cover bands.

I swore off stadium shows after seeing Bowie (w/ Peter Gabriel and the Tubes) back in '83. Over 20 years later I have yet to break that oath - although my well-earned misanthropy makes it easy to avoid sitting in a large room among 49,998 people I dislike.

I might fork out 2-hundred for Kate Bush or XTC, but that's because it's been more than a quarter century since Kate's toured and more than 20 for XTC.

Maybe.

I saw XTC on their tour for Drums And Wires and I love'em and all but, trust me, they would not be worth your $200.

Probably not. And at this stage in her life Kate would probably arrange everything to sound like The Red Shoes album, which is my least favorite of hers.
