I only started the series back in Oct. and am already more than halfway through the 5th book.

They're fucking addictive.

I think I'm going to have withdrawl in having to wait for the next one to come out in June.

I still need to read the fifth. I've generally been reading one, seeing the movie, reading the next, seeing the movie, etc., but I may have to break it since the fourth movie doesn't come out until this fall and I want to read the fifth book.

i have read every single one of these books to my kids as they've been published over the past several years. this will probably be the first hp book i won't read to them as they are 12 and 15 (almost 13 and 16 by the time it comes out) and i rarely ever read to them at all now.

i will sadly miss this experience--a truly sweet, cherished memory.

With Harry Potter I as referring to an episode of Entourage

I saw a Da Vinci code reference of this ilk on The OC

Josh and I both read the series over the summer/early fall. We became addicted after the first one. They're fabulous and even better then the movies!!

We're both waiting for the new one to come out and can't WAIT for the new film at Thanksgiving!!!

I am a big fan. I have a mental list of books that I will read to my kids (and a mental list of music that they will hear throught their development), and the Harry Potter series is definitely on the list. I was a big snob about them until the third book was published, then I broke down and read them, and realized that they were good (and better with each subsequent release). Quite excellent childrens' literature.

Put me in the can't wait group. I think as an adult, this wait for the next one feels most like the wait from Thanksgiving to Christmas of childhood.

Where did you read that? I'm pretty sure it's coming out in November.

Oh - looks like that's an early estimate. What I'm seeing now is July 16. Where are you getting November?

I assumed he was talking about the movie because he mentioned Batman Begins. Here's where I saw November for the movie: http://movies.yahoo.com/shop?d=hv&cf=info&id=1808475610

See I figured he meant the book and you meant the movie and neither of you understood the other.

Oh, sorry - I definitely meant the book. I was pretty disappointed in all but the 3rd movie. I'll still look forward to it, but book first.

I didn't like the third one. Way too rushed. I thought the second one was easily the best of the three.

I like the tone of the third one a lot but not how much was left out.

With the expanding lengths of the books, it's bound to get worse in future movies. Unless they make 4-hour marathons.

Therefore, like cartoons (The Incredibles, Nemo, etc.. not ATHF/Simpson/Family Guy) I can respect why people like them, but prefer to abstain myself. I have a much longer list of things to read/explore than will ever allow me to read things like Harry Potter. Those of you with kids, it is definitely a worthwhile exercise.

Ayah, my mom read to me and forced me to read. A LOT. Probably why I covered to football team for my school paper instead of playing, bt also why I'm the genius you all know and love.

hah. i read to my kids from about six months. almost every single night of the week up until about 2 years ago. i loved it. it was just a great way for everyone to settle down before bedtime and made us feel close. some classics, the bible but also captain underpants stuff, too. they are now both rabid readers. it's one thing, as a parent, that i know i did right. and there ain't too many of those.
