we'll be going on at 9, followed by our friends and my current favorite band, Night Rally, with Up the Empire headlining (formerly known as Kilowatthours). it'll be a night full of rickenbackers...

$5???

seriously, isn't this a little sad to anyone else? some of us have posted on that board for over 4 years, fostering a community of support, friendship, and respect, rarely asking for much from steve - and often being extremely cordial, rather than seeking favors - and now this is how it is?

That is some bullshit Kev. Welcome to your new home.

Good luck in NYC.

I personally think it's sad. I've had my issues with Steve for a while with his moderating choices. Anyway, his decision to delete your thread is questionable considering there's a thread on the same page from Jetset records, looking for street teamers, that's been untouched.

I'm not sure if it was a moderator thing. I click on it and there was a blank post with a weird date by an "unregistered user" named "1". Weird stuff.

Hmm, I had considered the possibility of a tech. error and I hope that's the case. The inconsistency with respect to the "no really, we're only here to street-team" thread seemed a bit too obvious in this instance, no?

So, consider this a "well, I'll gladly apologize if it was a blip." Seriously, I was only trying to notify some of the folks I've met via the board in NY who came to my first show in Brooklyn in early '03. My intention was hardly commercial.

-Kev.

Why are you even explaining yourself Kevin? It's been a given that regulars should feel free to post any shows on the board. To me, it's a courtesy issue for those who may want to attend.

Speaking of "attending", what's the deal with the Debutants show tonight? What time do they go on? Should I go? I have to write essays (about the Vietnam War and music).

i don't look at it as hype if you have something invested in the community and people actually care about it. in a sense we're all streat teamers for what music we like

Eric - I was kicked out of the Debutantes back in June after having a falling out with the leader of the project, Bek. He said I wasn't trying hard enough, I said I was, and added that it kinda sucked to be called out like that, as we were friends. Basically, he didn't like my attitude, said he would never thank me for helping him with his band, and that I should never come back. We haven't spoken since and as you can imagine, it's a source of some discomfort for me, so I won't be anywhere near PA's tonight.

Chris - I've taken to explaining myself a lot lately. Just seems easier to be up-front and honest about shit, rather than letting unspoken, assumed stuff go by.

Get out of my sight.

Hayao Miyazaki, the director/screenwriter of the recent hits Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away (neither of which I've seen), also did a great film called My Neighbor Totoro back in the '80s. See it.

Or just watch GIR dressed as a dog: :gir:

nice to see y'all last night!

now i have another headache.

those 2 sentences are not related.

had a swell chat with Craig from the Hold Steady, who is possibly the most down-to-earth guy in "indie rock" going. if you get a chance to see these guys, please do!

in other news, shortly after the last band packed it in and we loaded out THROUGH A DANCE PARTY, me and Night Rally snacked on the following at Crif Dogs: a hot dog, wrapped in bacon, wrapped in a fried egg, in a hot dog bun. either the worst or best idea, i'm still unsure.

made it home by 5:30 AM thanks to the Good Ship Night Rally.

i watched City of God again this afternoon and listened to way too much Wire.
