Derris, thanks for such a comprehensive listen and putting your time into this response. Phil said that I should buy you a beer at the open bar at their wedding reception

Given my current financial state, that might be all that I can afford! We're in the process of getting stickers, t-shirts, tour posters, and these CDs prepped, and are getting poor in a hurry!

Okay so I'm going through this for a 2nd time now.
The first impression that I got was that it was quieter than the album I was listening to while I was waiting for it to download. Not sure if that is something you can just turn up. I know nothing about recording but I checked a couple other albums in Itunes and then went back and it was definitely quieter.
The first has definite Beatles/Kinks vibe to it. I like the fact that the song speeds up. I think if you kept it at the verse speed you might bore folks but that changes it up nicely and the slow break has a nice Ziggy Stardust quality to it.
For the 2nd song, I really like the effect behind the vocals for the first break the song takes. The first time I listened to this one I wasn't in love with the "i just gotta say yeah, yeah, yeah" portion but after heaing it again I like it much more in context of the rest of the song. It's a nice change after the falsetto chorus and power chords.
3rd song. Umm. 1971 England called and wants it's glitter back. If you guys put this out back then and you wore feather boas on stage with glitter everywhere this would be your most theatrical number. Nice vocal work there towards the end.
I gotta agree with Jon. This might be the best one on here. Lot of good stuff going on here. I like the fact that the vocals are a little distorted. If the vocals were clean and clear this could be a CMJ top 20 indie pop but then again if they were more accessible people would treat it LIKE another indie pop song, i.e- flavor of the month syndrome. The crescendo chorus is a nice change and when the song goes into the slower portion I think it makes it a really great song. Almost Flaming Lips/ Earlies -esque. Hell it didn't hurt My Morning Jacket to take an insane pop song with "Off the Record" and turn it into a psychedelic workout.
For the last one I immediately thought of Luna with the vocals. Something off "Pup Tent". That is not a bad thing. Once the vocals turn real clear the production on them is great. That is a great melody. I think I like the way you ended this one. Nice slow jam. Did you ever think about using that distortion just underneath to fade the song out to? Just curious.
I know this isn't exactly constructive criticism. More me just telling you that I liked it a lot. Lot of layers there and sounds like a lot of work. You guys should be proud. This is some excellent stuff.
