I only wish it were that simple.

#1, YES. One of my coworkers was at my desk today and we were talking about how shitty I've been feeling lately and how I can't seem to get my apartment in order because I don't have any help doing so. She came over after work, made ME dinner, helped me drag two large pieces of furniture out of storage, and watched a movie with me. Wow.

#2, ugh. You're so right.

you guys are just further perpetuating the urban myth that menstruation does in fact exist. Gross. As if.

I'm listening to The Redwalls and enjoying them for a change. I think that I've come to the conclusion that it's really just the song "Falling Down" that pretty much spoiled the whole album for me. So sophmoric. But "Hung Up On the Way I'm Feeling" and several others are just freaking great pop songs.
I hate me.

- Beatles "Revolver" is an excellent album.

- These commercials, despite being for a corporate entity, still manage to inspire me. This is how I want to live my life.

- Red, that's great... I had a similar experience last night. Friend came over and we went for an hour long walk through my very hilly neighborhood (d was huffing, man!) then stopped at a pub on the way home for late dinner. She picked up the tab. I told her I didn't like that idea, that I didn't want to be a charity case. She would hear nothing of it. We went back to my place, had some wine, and watched some trash tv together. True friends are amazing, and I'm blessed that I have so many of them right now here in Portland.

edit: and to be even more blessed... just got a phone call from the SISTER of a friend here, inviting me to do something on Saturday. Goddamn, I'm a lucky girl. These are the things worth remembering in life.

It is very chilly outside.

The excitement of my entire week revolves around going to the bar tonight. And eating this corn muffin right now. That's how I roll, I know you're all jealous.

Am I the only one noticing the glaring correlation between said bar trip and having a muffin eaten?

It's HOT here. like 95 this afternoon. Of course it goes from gorgeous to garbage when I shell out the dough for new patio furniture.

Banks fucking suck. Regions Bank being the worst on the planet, most likely. Though I don't use them, my employer does. Let's just say they have all the trappings of a thoroughly modern bank (website, transfers, etc) they are really probably run by a dude with an abbacus on his desk, because it takes AT LEAST 72 hours to get anything deposited or withdrawn from your official account.

I might live in the most backward, good old boy state of em all. Nothing gets done without someone's brother/uncle/cousin and their "brother" getting a cut. I could complain, but who would listen?

Bob Shrum's book is really good. I swear, though, when I read these things, most of the time I can only think "If this schmuck can do it, what's holding me back?"

an·ti·cli·max

–noun

1. an event, conclusion, statement, etc., that is far less important, powerful, or striking than expected.

2. a descent in power, quality, dignity, etc.; a disappointing, weak, or inglorious conclusion: After serving as President, he may find life in retirement an anticlimax.

3. a noticeable or ludicrous descent from lofty ideas or expressions to banalities or commonplace remarks: We were amused by the anticlimax of the company's motto: “For God, for country, and for Acme Gasworks.”

I really wish that shopping for my dad wouldn't be such a headache. Father's Day causes panic attacks. Dang him for not wanting anything.

Well, that night at the bar proved to be far more interesting than originally thought.

- yesterday afternoon, I thought my heart was literally breaking... had it not been for the guys on chatzy yesterday afternoon, I surely would have died last night. Thank you Rads, Fu, Stu and Mojo. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

- one of the good things about being alone these days is that I find myself in situations where I'm meeting new people. Last night I had the opportunity to meet an absolutely lovely couple. He's Indian, raised in England; she's American, raised in Birmingham, AL. They welcomed me into their home and fed me some of the best Indian food I've ever had... all made from scratch.

I'm not sure how I feel about the Dirty Dancing style cutoff jean shorts coming back into style for women. Too long and not very flattering. Do us all a favor and buy a sundress.
