Never liked Meth...always burned my nose...too speedy...

Seen some folks get hooked pretty bad...them nasty scabs all over are just gross.

Three drugs I avoid like the plague are meth, crack and smack. Never seen anyone end up getting anything good outta any of 'em.

I have seen some people get hooked into this shit at UGA. What used to be really nice people turn into total scumbags. Alot of the people I know who got hooked were those with mucho dinero.

I don't think meth is more prevalent in the south or in Indiana. It's everywhere. I have lived many years in Virginia and am now working in California. Regardless of all the sucked up little teenage boys that come into the program I work in there are frequent busts and more frequent meth lab explosions just miles from the homes I work at. I remember watching my brother use crank. He never smoked it though. bleh. It stinks too.

I see a lot of addiction. The most interesting thing here is watching a serious meth using teen come in at 6'2 weighing 130 lbs and in a matter of months without using looks as healthy as a damn baby horse.

I also didn't realize that "ice" was the same as meth. I thought they were different drugs.

Most of these kids I work with have their drug of choice, and it is meth. To me it seems that the wealthier folks around the late 20's to mid-30's use coke. But the white trash and the young kids use meth. It's all nasty stuff. My job would be alot easier if it was just potheads I had to deal with.

Not only do these drugs do horrible things to their bodies physically, it also seriously fucks up their brain. Half these kids are brain damaged from use. Couple that with F.A.S. and there is almost no hope for proper physical and mental healing.

There's this kid we got now. He's new. He's a "tweaker" for sure. Dude washes dishes and his body twitches involuntarily. It's rather violent. His leg sticks out and shakes and he also picks it up and slams his foot down like he's a chicken scratching the dirt. It's extremely funny to see, but not when I realize why it happens. It's not so funny anymore, especially because he has been here almost 2 weeks and we have about 3 holes in the walls/doors from him. One good thing though, he gets so mad but has enough self-control to not hit the staff. Instead, he closefist punches himself in the head and the jaw. We have to record this shit so we don't get charged with child abuse because these manipulative fuckers are minors.

wow. I am done.

meth is one of the few drugs that seems to have zero upside.
at least with heroin people talk about how amazing it is when you start and lots of quality art work is associated with it. sure it turns your life to hell or kills you, but i can see the allure.

i don't see anything positive about meth.

Yep, anywhere where household chemicals and bunsen burners are available can be The Crystal Palace in a few hours.

There is no upside to this shit, unless you really like staying up for three days at a time.

Is this from that damn HBO special in Iowa? That shit was disturbing. Those fuckers, especially the mom, were hitting rails so big I almost threw up watching them.

Except for those sores that won't heal. But I guess there's ointments for that shit these days.

Classic. Kinda like a fine story in today's AJC about a mom beating her 14 year old son and pouring beer on him because he wouldn't roll her any more joints.

Classy

If there would have been methamphetamine in the time of the Third Punic War, the Romans could have constructed and exploded a few meth labs in Carthage instead of pouring salt.

Tunis to this day would still not be habitable, in that would have been the case.

... But, huh, about what am I talking? Huh? What? There is no meth. At least, not to the nut-fuck townies in the shitsvilles where the laboratories spring up. Those white trash fuckers are to the existence of meth what over-sensitive Italians are to the existence of the mafia. That is: Over-sensitive Italian-American says (with straight-face), "There is no mafia"; townies say, "There is no meth. Them drugs is for the nigras in the cities, all that crack and dope and heroin. Nope. Uh-uh. No drugs in the sticks."

I really didn't hear that much about Meth until I moved out West. It is all over Colorado. It really didn't seem that prevalent in the Midwest, or at least in Columbus. When the rare lab was found the press would go shithouse. But then again the city's gov. could just be in denial.

Speaking of times of war. Crystal was procured by the German army to give to their soldiers to, you know, keep them awake. I know it sounds like some ridiculous story, but it's rather historically correct. They try and pass blame onto Hitler, who knows about that. But, the initial oncoming of Methamphetamine was during WWII. I thought that was interesting.

all the drug talk on here really shakes me, just b/c i see so much of it in real life all the time (working in a pharmacy) that i've really become desensitized to it.

it's only when it comes up somewhere like this, which is so far-removed from my work situation at all that it really hits home.

this and oxycontin are terrible terrible things, that many people just cannot handle.

i also feel that Loogar is right about certain people being able to use drugs and still lead very meaningful, successful, and outright good lives. Other people just get destroyed by substances and substance abuse. Some can handle it better.

Well, it's about time that Henry County was better than anyone else at something...
I have definitely seen the bad things this stuff can do to people here in Athens, though the people I knew that were using it weren't the college students, but either the 20-27 year old service-industry workers or the raver kids that grew up here. For a while a bunch of kids I worked with used it as a way to be able to work all night without being tired. I guess after a while it just gets to them.
