I got this with my paycheck stub today, I'll post answers momentarily.

1. What percentage of carbon emissions in the US are from passenger vehicles?
2. How much does the average American household spend on utility costs?
3. What percentage of energy and electricity do buildings typically consume each year in the US?
4. What percentage of pesticides used on residential lawns are considered probable carcinogens by the EPA?
5. How much of the waste stream is from construction and demolition in the US?
6. If you use less material in a building does it lower the overall embodied energy, which directly impacts the building’s carbon footprint?
7. How much forest timber is in one typical 1,700 sq. ft. wood frame house?
8. Is lead dust still in housing?
9. How much water does a dripping faucet waste per day?
10. How much of the world’s wood does the US consume?

WTF kind of company you work for? That is possibly the most unprofessional thing I've ever heard of.

ok, answers:

1. Approximately 20%
2. $1,500 per year
3. Approximately 40% of energy and 70% of electricity
4. 95%
5. 40%
6. Yes
7. One acre
8. Yes
9. 15-21 gallons
10.15% even though the US is home to only 4.5% of the global population

Umm. Not that I have the amount to factually contend this statement, but that seems unbelievably incorrect.

And the answer above gave a range, implying that it included the spectrum.

I assumed that was the "dripdripdrip" range. Because, seriously, 15-21 gallons is a Michael Moore-ish "fact" at best. I know they're trying to make a good point but that is pushing it.

And they say cancer rates are rising.... how strange. But these can't be related. Plus, what are we supposed to do, let those awful, awful weeds grow in our perfect green grass?

I think that's the number if you just leave the faucet wide the fuck open.

Also, guess what? most of that wood in those houses isn't first growth. There's timberland and tree farms for a reason.

The better question is what percentage of the wood we use comes from sustainable forestry practices. My guess would be appalling low.

But you failed to mention that your sink only holds 9 fluid ounces. :)
