Holy shit what a great show. Wife and I got front row center in front of Tweedy, so we got mucho great pics, which we'll upload at some point.

Low were super great despite Wilco fans talking throughout their set. I got the setlist at the end, mostly because I actually was a)paying attention, and b)asked Alan really nicely. They even pulled out the US Army Field organ that was used from WWI to WWII. How the hell did they get that?

Sandinista
In Silence
Dragonfly (with Nels Cline!)
Waltz
In The Drugs
Murderer
Breaker

Wilco was hot as fire tonight. They pulled out stuff that they rarely do live, or its been awhile (see California Stars). The crowd was completely digging the band and sending super energy to them on stage, which was being reciprocated 10x. They are just so much fun to see live. Oh, and today was Pat's bday, which was greeted by a shirtless roadie bringing out a cake. Woo. When you look at the setlist, just look at encore f'n 2.

A Shot in the Arm
Side With The Seeds
You Are My Face
IATTBYH
Kamera
Handshake Drugs
Via Chicago
Shake It Off
War on War
Sky Blue Sky
Impossible Germany
Jesus, etc.
Hate It Here
Walken
I'm The Man Who Loves You
Hummingbird (!!!!!!)
---------------------
California Stars
Poor Places>
Spiders (Kidsmoke)
---------------------
Heavy Metal Drummer
The Late Greats
I'm Always In Love
Outtamind (Outtasite)
I'm A Wheel
---------------------
What Light

Besides the music, other highlights were:

Tweedy pointing at me and singing at me "I listen for your lips to break apart into words" during Shake It Up, and my wife getting one of Kotche's drum sticks.

"War on War" is a really underrated yet great Wilco song.

I missed them coming through here on Wednesday. I knew it would be a good show but I wasn't motivated to go after Sky Blue Sky.

Sounds like a great show. Thanks for the recap.

"California Stars" not played much? I've seen them probably 10 times in the last 6-7 years, and they've played California Stars every time. Maybe it's 'cause I see them in California...

yeah, I agree its lame, except that a few years ago my Sonic Youth pics I took at the 930 club got stolen. Its not that I don't trust the people who are on here most, its the wandering browsers I worry about. Sorry that it degrades from yr viewing.

Its alright, and I know to give it right back, Shiv. heh. No, they only allow non-detatchable lense cameras (no SLRs in other words), so I had a good point/shoot digi but because I a)didn't use a flash because I think they are annoying for the performer b)lack of light the camera's shutter took a little longer, thus amplifying my body's movement.

That pretty much happened the first time I saw them. We've basically said, if they are within 150 miles, its on. We would've done Red Bank the next evening, but I didn't realize until tix were sold out. Anything Wilco-related live (from my experience) has been great. From Nels to Glenn, Autumn Defense to Tweedy they are all amazing.

Tweedy had great banter with the audience. Is he always like that, or was he hamming it up for the MTV cameras filming the show?

Regardless, they sounded great and our setlist was pretty similar to yours, though the just ended with 'I'm a Wheel'.

Tweedy is always like that. At my show he was talking about how the macreme owl was their stage decoration, and they wanted everyone to send them macreme to make a gigantic backdrop. Then he went on to say, "Just send it to us...just put Wilco, Chicago on it. We'll get it."

Also, he there was a 6 yo in the front row, and Tweedy was like, "yeah, we like younger fans", and then poked fun of the dad rock moniker. Tweedy went on to say "you know we like kids at shows, we need more here, cause our fanbase is dying off".

Not to mention Tweedy's dance during Hummingbird.

During his solo shows, he's like a stand up comic.

Awesome. I had a feeling that was normal, but had only seen them professionally recorded before.

Someone in the audience gave him hand-knit headbands for the entire band during the show and he asked why his looked like Olivia Newton-John's, then asked if anyone else had any gifts and told the rest of us we were lame. He wore his around his neck and said he was going to wear it as an ascot and asked if it made him look rugged.

It was all very entertaining.

Yeah, the entire band is pretty cool, and approachable, one thing that is sorely missing in rock. Did you do the whole canned food thing to get $10 off a poster?

I didn't even know about that, actually.

Maybe they didn't do that at yr show. At Merriweather and some of the other shows (Hammerstein I know), they had a bring food, get a coupon deal. It was a good thing, that benefited me, since I was going to get the poster anyway.

None of the websites affiliated with the venue mentioned that, but it being in Northampton, they probably did it there as well. I wasn't able to visit a merch table, though, which I'm regretting now. Next time.
