Let's start placing bets now as to how long this reunion lasts. Still, though...makes me excited!!! Hope they make it across to the States.

NME:

Quote:
The Verve reunite for tour
Richard Ashcroft and co write new songs

The Verve are set to reunite for a winter tour.

The original band of Richard Ashcroft, Nick McCabe,Simon Jones and Pete Sailsbury have got together for the first time in almost a decade.

In a statement, the band have announced they were: "Getting back together for the joy of the music."

It is believed they will take a summer break and then return to the studio to complete their next album.

The band broke up in 1999, with the tumultuous relationship between Ashcroft and McCabe being well documented with the two exiting the band repeatedly since they began in 1993.

The band are set to play:

Glasgow Academy (November 2,3)
Blackpool Empress Ballroom (5,6)
London Roundhouse (8,9)

Tickets are set to go on sale on July

Few concert-going disappointments top buying a ticket for "Verve + Massive Attack @ Red Rocks" and going to "Verve at a former hockey rink with shitty acoustics" with the same ticket.

so funny that we were at the same place at the same time. add to that disappointment the fact that nick mccabe wasn't even touring with them, and in his place was 50 year old bj cole with his shirt unbuttoned. blech.

anyways, this is good news. the last time they "got the band back together" resulted in urban hymns...so they could do something great again.

edit: although they have done a wonderful job turning that former-hockey-rink-with-shitty-acoustics into the fillmore auditorium which is now an excellent venue.

more coincidence -- i was there too. friend & i were just fortunate to hear of the venue change, otherwise we would've drove all that way for nothing.

we did, however, know of the turmoil with the band. while we were standing in line at the fillmore we discussed how the show could suck between the band not being on good terms and the location, so we cut out and went home.

we ended up lying saying we couldn't make the show cuz of the late notice (which was true) driving all the way out there to red rocks (lie) before we found out and received our money back.

barring arthritis or loss of a finger or limb, how would one stop being a good guitarist?

I hope it lasts long enough for them to get to the northwest... I'll always have a soft spot for this band.

On a barely related side note, does anyone else think that that one ose gonzales song sounds like the Verve Pipes Freshman jam?
