My grandfather was born in 1901 and he collected baseball cards, of course.

It breaks my heart (and will probably do the same to all of you), but he created a piece of "art", as most 7-9 year old kids will do:
A piece of corrugated board... drew a diamond on it in crayon... and pasted his favorite players' cards (or their cut-out profiles) into their position on the board.

At shortstop: Honus Wagner
Pitching: Walter johnson
etc.
etc.
(I can't remember the rest because it's been years since I've seen it. It's buried in storage at my parents' house.)

I'm not looking to sell it; I'll frame it and put it up at my house. But I am looking into the value for the sake of insuring it. It's got to be worth something, eh?

i think honus wagner in ANY condition is worth something.

There are people that claim to know the whereabouts of every existing card and would probably be excited to know of a new one.

yeah, but that's only for the t206 honus wagner card. i believe there are other honus wagner cards from the era that aren't nearly as valuable. the only reason that card is worth so much is supposedly wagner asked the tobacco distributor to not print it since he didn't use tobacco, so there're only a few dozen in existence.

still, it might be interesting to see what damaged copies of those cards are worth.

I also believe that all of the Honus cards that are worth that much are all accounted for.

It's that picture, but cut out around the silouhette and pasted onto corrugated board; in between second and third base on a red-and-blue crayon diamond.
Most-certainly NOT in perfect condition and NOT worth anything close to $1M.

Or this one either, who is on the pitcher's mound:

But, as a kid, these were the ones that I was most excited about having in the collection:

(Sadly, these may have been sold by my parents to help pay for my college so long ago, along with a bunch of turn-of-the century boxing cards.)

Insofar as I can tell. (And, as memory serves -- it's been maybe 20 years since I've actually seen the thing. But that certainly appears to be the one that I remember seeing pasted so sadly on that board.)

When I find it at my parents' house (it's totally buried somewhere), I'll get a picture of it. I'm trying to get to it, so that I can get it properly framed... save it from any more atmospheric damage.

Honestly, if it was cut out of the card I'd say it's worth little to nothing.
