where do I start?

Bloor, you played some tunes on one of your podblasts a while back that I loved... don't remember the name, but it was all about the drankin'

Just kinda want to get my feet wet, but don't want "greatest hits" packages or watered down radio-friendly tunes.

His first album Kristofferson is essential. Fu is probably the expert though.

Yeah that's it. I only have that one, The Silver Tongued Devil and I, and his most recent one. Whenever I look for more on CD, I mostly find compilations only which I try to stear clear of. I'm under the impression that a lot of his best work -- other than the first two i mentioned -- is only available on vinyl.

Maybe Fu or Tentoze will have more recs.

Personally, I'm a big fan of "Jesuse Was A Capricorn" and "Live At the Philharmonic" albums.

I'm not the best to school since I just have random mp3s of the dude.

However critics who, over the decades, have said his voice sucks are completely missing the point and impact of the man. It's his roughness and gruffness that makes him so special.

true dat... the closest thing to "cowboy" I'd ever find sexy-- that rough, gruff voice.

I endorse this position. The last one, This Old Road really pleases me, and I listened to it twice this week.

I have Jesus was a Capricorn on vinyl, but I don't think I've ever played it.

Can't really add much to what'[s already been said. The S/T (which I do not have on cd with the bonus tracks, just the originally title Me & Bobby McGee on vinyl, like http://www.amazon.com/Me-Bobby-McGee-Kr ... 77&sr=1-67), is essential stuff, though I always thought was a bit over-produced in spots.

Silver Tongued Devil & I is the best, IMO- the songs and production are more raw, which is to my liking. Epitaph (Black & Blue), written for J. Joplin after she flamed out, is as much as ever needed to be said about that.

Jesus Was A Capricorn has some good songs, a couple of weak ones, too. After that, I always thought Kristofferson let the bright lights get in his eyes, and never really focused on his music.
