I've met several Asians from Europe actually, and it is pretty weird. Don't really know why, shouldn't be any stranger than Asian-Americans or people from Hong Kong or Singapore who speak English with British accents, but still, it's odd to hear an Asian with a Russian or Dutch accent.

actually east asian looks + russian accent isn't horribly rare--many of the former soviet republics near china still speak russian (eastern kazakstan, kyrgyzstan, etc.)

Now Asians with a Scottish accent, now that's something.

And KT Tunstall doesn't count.

Black Asian Scots, even better.

I saw Live Free or Die Hard with SHEFRAC last night, thanks to a generous grant from The In-Laws, and that Maggie Q (or whatever her name is) definitely qualifies as SLANTED AND ENCHANTED!!!

I think oriental if for referring to things like rugs or vases. Asian is for people.

I've heard someone say this before and since then use Asian.

Course it was yesterday.

I loaded up my iPod with Monty Python's "I Like Chinese" specifically for my China trip. Sadly, I left the iPod at home.

"plain folk" is the textbook nomenclature.

Up north, we prefer "gugglyfuck."

As in "They wuz some wubbynuts gugglyfuck, they wuz."

Or, "shahp-ass tootin gugglyfuck'" for weddings.
