Spaghetti-O's and Beer In The Woods!

If you're bored, check flickr. I got soft luggage for the bike, and decided to field test it by going camping in Vermont. If you recall last year, when Phil drove me out here, we wound up staying at Poet's secret mountain getaway... and I wound up going down 30 miles of state park dirt roads on a low gas tank. I went back and found that road, got a campsite, and had a good time.

This road, to be exact:

Image

Only real excitement was a rodent under my tent at 3am and 6 or 7 hours of rain all night. I never rode in any rain, and temps were great - 60's and 70's. And Sunday I had a beautiful ride home for 6 hours, taking my time, stopping alot, meeting people, eating good food, etc.

Anywho. There's ten photos or so uploaded, with descriptions.

The traditional route is to google search a picture of Rick Moranis as Lord Helmet. Because I'm small, you see.

And you're on, sketch... compete with this:

...that's right. Spaghetti-O's. Nothing tops Franco-American product.

Yes, Franco-American should be had in every store... just like every store should have one of these.

Camping is the best. There's going to be a large gathering of mountain bikers at Lake Tahoe in a couple of weeks & I'm stoked.

Didn't camp last weekend, but I did this: [img][375:500]http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/6987/garyontherox600pb0.jpg[/img]

There was better stuff further down the river, but that shit was heavy as hell - they weren't super dry. Those 2 big chunks were 500 feet away at least, which sucked. After the second one, I just said screw it.

There's also a sizeable brush pile down in front, but the stump the camera's on isn't high enough to see it. ...And other such excuses.

I mean, yeah. I "know" it's pretty and everything, but then I come around a corner and see shit like this, and it just knocks the wind outta me.

That comment was mostly for me. I'm reminded how nice a place I live when you start threads like this.

It's a nice place to get away, that's for damn sure. The job market isn't exactly on fire, nor is the singles scene. But for minimalist 2-wheeled camping, it's fucking awesome. And the funny thing is, I drove past a lot of this shit last year, but was so nervous about keeping the bike upright on gravel / eyeing my empty gas guage that I just blew right by it. Plus it was rainy last year. This time... whew. Good thing Neuroboy got a date, and I had not shit to do.

Oh yeah, there's no way I'm staying here any longer than I have to. I've always said it'll be a great place to come back to.

Molo-camping would have made for a more interesting thread.

Note: you can make the joke without doing a parody thread

That one RV with limo-tint windows in every big family-oriented campsite... (shudder)
