Tempe has tons of of college bars (ASU is there) and a GANG of nice looking, generally congenial females. Enjoy yourself. I had a blast when I was there for about 5 days back in '97 or so.

I'm sure it still gets it, but I can't recommend anywhere specific off the top of my head. They have mist outside. Sacrifice.

aFreshStart4me (Mike) lives in Phoenix. I had the privilege of staying and hanging out with him in early December (we went to see Muse). I'm sure he can introduce you to a lot of clubs and drinking establishments. For kitsch purposes, hit Cooper's Town -- Alice Cooper's restaurant which is located right next to the baseball stadium. Good food and booze!

Here are next week's scheduled shows:

Sat 02/12/05 Dennis DeYoung Celebrity Theatre
Sat 02/12/05 John Waite Celebrity Theatre
Sat 02/12/05 Ron White Dodge Theatre
Sat 02/12/05 Jackass (The Band) Mason Jar

Mon 02/14/05 The Four Lads Dodge Theatre

Tue 02/15/05 Queensryche Celebrity Theatre

Wed 02/16/05 Goodbye Blue Monday Emerald Lounge
Wed 02/16/05 Mean Reds Old Brickhouse Grill
Wed 02/16/05 The Blood Brothers Old Brickhouse Grill
Wed 02/16/05 Ian McLagan & The Bump Band Rhythm Room

Thu 02/17/05 Devil Doll Rhythm Room

Fri 02/18/05 Jill Scott Celebrity Theatre
Fri 02/18/05 Jolie Holland Rhythm Room
Fri 02/18/05 Kottonmouth Kings Rhythm Room

Sat 02/19/05 The Golden Republic Modified
Sat 02/19/05 Pinetop Perkins Rhythm Room
Sat 02/19/05 Willie "Big Eyes" Smith Rhythm Room

Sun 02/20/05 3 Doors Down Celebrity Theatre
Sun 02/20/05 Saliva Celebrity Theatre
Sun 02/20/05 Therapy Chamber Celebrity Theatre
Sun 02/20/05 Acceptance Mason Jar
Sun 02/20/05 KillRadio Mason Jar
Sun 02/20/05 Over It Mason Jar
Sun 02/20/05 Sleepytime Gorilla Museum Old Brickhouse Grill
Sun 02/20/05 Dave Mason Rhythm Room

Doesn't look that appetizing -- maybe the Blood Brothers? *shrug*

Btw, I'd totally go see Jill Scott.

Have a couple of pints of Fat Tire for me. They don't sell that beer in LA and thought it was purty darn good for cheap beer! :)

ASU's campus area blows my mind- if I had that many distractions when I was in school I would have flunked out and been completely broke in about a week.

RIYL Fat Tire- Mirror Pond Pale Ale from Deschutes Brewery in Bend Or. Actually any of their brews are awesome.

Well come out and we can take a field trip to the brewery! It isn't that far from my house, plus there are two other high-quality brewers in the same city (Fort Collins). And don't even get me started on the Breweries in Boulder....

I didn't realize that I was so fortunate to be able to get Fat Tire here...although it's not really cheap

and I second the Alice Cooperstown suggestion...it's not unusual for him to just be hanging out, chatting with everyone...the one time I went, he was just standing around at the hostess stand and schmoozing with the customers

I dunno why Aural can't get it. We can't get it because they don't ship east of the Mississippi..something to do with freshness, I think.

It's like a little less hoppy/more guzzleable Sierra Nevada Pale Ale..not cheap, but damn if you can't kill it.

<--------Really wants a Fat Tire, but is gonna settle for a Bud Light.

Cuz they don't distribute to Southern California. I just went to their website to find info about distribution. Here's what I found:

Quote:
Q. Where can I find your beers?
A. Good question. Crucial, really. We are a regional craft brewer distributing throughout the western United States. You can find most or all of our line in Colorado, Wyoming, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, New Mexico, Arizona, Texas, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Arkansas and northern California.

You are truly a full service moderator, Tania. You can list the local shows for a specific time period, and provide a list of the available beers!

FT and Konstantine need to step it up.

Fat Tire is like the best employer ever - if any of the Obnish have experience as sales reps / distributors, and can base yourself out of Fort Collins, Colorado, i would suggest sending them a resumé. I've heard that after a year's employment, they give you a fat tired bike, and after five years, they give you an expenses paid vacation through the monsatery breweries of Belgium.

This is true, plus I love their business practices. A portion of their brewery (albeit a small one) is windmill generated, they are also involved in local charities. Plus the people that work there look so damn happy (wouldn't you?)

If you have a little free time to kill and remember that obscure indie CD or record you've been trying to find for it seems like forever, stop in Stinkweeds in Tempe. One of the best little independent record stores you'll find. At 1250 E. Apache Blvd just past Rural if headed east. Cool little hangout next to it for a cup of coffee or lunch. Near downtown and the university. They have some good instores once in a while but usually charge for the better ones. Check their site online. Nice people.

Mmmm, Mirror Pond Pale Ale is excellent, Fat Tire not nearly as much so. But could be I just haven't had a really good Fat Tire yet. Maybe have to try it again sometime.

There's a little bar called the Yucca Tap room on Mill Ave. and Southern in Tempe that has music every night. It's a dive bar but has good music on occassion. My brother's band plays there all the time.

Also, for the hot women that everyone is talking about check out the Library on Mill Ave. All the waitresses and bartender girls dress up in school girl uniforms.
