What's the best and cheapest of these that I can go to a store and buy today?

the one with the charger that runs off your lighter. fuckers drain a battery like that.

though following my advice means you can't use it in hotel rooms on the radio there, as they won't run without the charger plugged in.

Have heard good things about griffin's iTrip. The Belkin Tunecast II I have is rather goat-blowing

WARNING (not cheap): if you're doing some serious driving, I'd consider
getting one of these and get a car stereo with an aux-in.

That's for when I get a new car Sketch, this is for this weekend's Penske Truck haul from TX to Bama.

I'll check that Griffin one.

Gar, this is what I have and it has never given me any trouble. I've had it for about 3 years I think. It charges while you use it as well.

I guess these things have become WAY more popular since then because I swear I bought mine for about $30 at the time.

I use this one:

http://www.amazon.com/iRiver-AFT-100-Mo ... B00067LYFW

Seems to be quite capable. I'm getting a little sick of listening to what amounts to FM-radio quality, though. And, on long drives, having to constantly change the frequency when a station interferes.

Futureshop has direct connection kits installed for $120. Think i'm gonna do that. They don't do any drilling, slicing or dicing (unless you want them to), and you have an iPod Docking cable situated wherever you want it.

That's funny I was about to post this as one NOT to buy. FEMBusty has gone through two of these in the last three months but I suspect now thinking about it that it must be the car charger, not this that is busted.

I have an older iTrip (pre LCD screen and pre change radio stations on the fly) and it works ok. I haven't used it in a while because the sound quality is passable but not great. May not matter for a rental truck though.

i drove 8 hours today using the itrip auto from griffin, and i gotta say, it works great. before i had a belkin model that needed aaa batteries, and it was a pig on them (they needed to be replaced probably every day or every other day), and it went from the headphone jack, which meant that if the sound level was low you'd need to turn up the volume, producing hiss. with the itrip it plugs into the connector at the bottom, so it takes the audio out independently of volume and charges it at the same time. so, in short, i highly recommend it.

i just use the cassette adapter. the radio thingy is awful for me as it gets static-y and is horrible on trips, where you have to change the staition ever 60 miles

I have some Belkin thingie which was around $70. Its great though since it has an adjustable arm, which is great in my truck. Also, I like how it goes through any channel, not 5 predetermined ones.

I had one of these that worked fantastic, but I'll probably check out the iriver one this time around. But yeah, the monster one worked great. and yeag, I thought I bought mine for $30, too.

I got that Belkin one at Target for $60 -- worked fine. Damn Brand New Penske truck had a fine CD player in it anyway, but I left all my discs at home.

So Penske lived up to our hype? Only thing they're missing are bench seats. Makes driving with the Mrs. more enjoyable when one of us can lay down.

Dude, we were saying that as well. Those buckets were fairly nice, but like, 6 feet away from each other.

The Penske was pretty sweet (check that random observations thread for more) except considering how tall I am, it was a VERY tight fit. (Of course I drove all twelve hours nonstop)

I know they think everybody wants buckets, but... shit I think we even built a bridge once, with a cooler on the ground betwixt the seats, and then layers of blankets and pillows and shit.
