so on my macbook, all of a sudden, a "shared" playlist shows up and all these songs from someone else is listed on my computer.

Go to your preferences and uncheck your 'share' options.

Heh, yeah. That threw me for a loop the first time that happened.

I quickly scoured my iTunes preferences to eliminate that.
