seriously, it's kind of hard to argue with some of their points:

Never start to think that North Korea has a valid point. 1 million people dead to starvation cos L'il Jon(g) wants to get his nuke on?

Seriously, N Korea is possibly the most fucked up backwards place on the planet, and the sooner there is any type of resolution to this problem, the better.

yeah it's a fucked up place. still, in theory i agree with any country that thinks that they need nuclear arms to defend themselves against US interference, whether i agree with what they're defending or not. it's obviously the only thing that gives us pause and the only thing that we respect.

That's all fine and good, but there's a million pound elephant that prevents us from, and always has prevented us from invasion and that is China. Now, we are looking at S. Korea possibly being annhiliated in some kind of Hennessy Louis XIV/ Natural Born Killers bing by Li'l Jon(g) (and I want credit for making up this nickname, I'm crackin myself up over here)

North Korea's second official statement in full:

You may look at me and think that
I'm just a young girl
But I'm not just a young girl
Baby, this is what I'm lookin' for
Sexy, independent, down-to-spend-it type that's gettin' his dough
I'm not bein' too dramatic
That's just how I gotta have it

I bet you want the goodies
Bet you thought about it
Got you all hot and bothered
Mad cause I talk about it
If you're lookin' for the goodies
Keep on lookin', cause they stay in the jar
Oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, oh-oh, yeah

is it hypocritical for us to tell governments that they can't have nukes or biological/chem weapons? yes.

Basically, North Korea is defending itself from the radical statements by the Bush admninistration that it has the right to invade any country that has the intent and capability to create weapons that challenge our power, meaning WMD. Think about it, that means if the United States is serious about its official doctrine on war, every single country in the world is subject to U.S. invasion. N. Korea is simply defending itself from a nation that is addicted to war.

I think North Korea is just about the most backwards place on the earth, but they heard the "axis of evil" speech and they know what's going to happen to them if they don't have WMD.

I was always brought up to believe that nuclear weapons were essential to provide a deterent to warfare and that they were responsible for the 50 years of peace we had enjoyed since 1945.

But I guess it's all different now since non-white people with non-western values have that same nuclear technology.

Taking it a step further, if every country in the world adopted the United States own doctrine of having the right to preemptively attack any given nation that could be a threat in the future, we would have a whole shitload of countries attacking us right about now.

But see, the thing is, they can't. They have to do shit like fly planes in to buildings, and kill non-military personnel, because they are too weak and chicken shit to really fight us. Kinda like L'il Jon(g) I respect all y'all's opinions and rights to have them, but some of the stuff said here is why economically disadvantaged people tend to vote Republican.

Are you REALLY DEFENDING NORTH KOREA's RIGHT TO BUILD NUKES?!?!?

It's North Korea. They starved ONE MILLION OF THEIR OWN PEOPLE because they thought this hsit was more important. And we've been so aggressive against them in the past. If we invaded everyone who said 'Death to America" we'd have troops occupying the entire world. Pull your heads out of your collective assholes and learn a little about geo-politics.

Don't nuclear weapons exist in the first place because of a policy of "chicken shit killing of non military personnel"?

Pretty much. For the last few centuries, Europe has been involved in constant struggle and war, mostly for power. However, after WWII, our weapons have become so destructive that countries just can't attack each other anymore for more territory or power.

As a sovereign country, they have as much of a right to build nuclear weapons as France or China, but that doesn't mean I feel good about North Korea having nukes. It's the sad reality of modern times that if you are threatened by another country and don't have the ability to defend yourself with conventional weapons, the only thing you can do is build weapons so destructive that they essentially take war off the table as an option between two states. North Korea is simply learning from Iraq.

I think Senator Chomsky said it best:

So the United States is telling the countries of the world: if you are defenseless, we are going to attack you when we want, but if you have a deterrent, we will back off, because we only attack defenseless targets. In other words, it is telling countries that they had better develop a terrorist network and weapons of mass destruction or some other credible deterrent; if not, they are vulnerable to "preventive war".

For that reason alone, this [Iraq] war is likely to lead to the proliferation of both terrorism and weapons of mass destruction.

since when do we care which nations mistreat their own? it's a bit convenient to bring this into the argument like we (america) gives a damn about people starving in a foreign country because of that nation's decisions.

This is what I don't get. Why would the US invade N. Korea? The only reason that I can manage is due to their nuclear weapons, but N. Korea says that the nuclear weapons are a deterent against invasion. So if N. Korea got rid of the weapons, there would no longer be a threat of invasion? Don't give me crap about the US being in S. Korea. The US hasn't invaded in the last 40 years, why would they now. Anyway, China wouldn't allow us to invade. N. Korea is building nuclear weapons to either sell or to invade South Korea, which they could do pretty handily right now.

i feel like such a stooge even responding to your inability to make a salient point, but i think that you can hate america's hypocrisy without hating the principles that our country doesn't adhere to.

I love it how disagreeing with a republican president or a specific administration means "hating America" (whatever that means). Some people get way too wrapped up in nationalism.

also, on a related note, i think kim jong-ill is the ultimate model human being (or what nietzsche liked to call, the overman). i mean, cmmon, the man spikes his hair and wears super high heals to stop being a midget/ always in his mutant special suit/imports the ultimate top-market whores, fine wine and seafood from around the globe just to get a taste. creates a whole fucking organization with the sole aiming of breeding nice vaginas for his libido. takes out whole nuclear families to fuck a woman he eyed on the street. what a guy. I bet bush is always like, damn, nig, when they see each other.

I had a dream in which was was going to marry Kim Jong Ill''s daughter. I thought the guy was going to kill me the seconds I screwed up and pissed him off.

Thankfully I awoke before screwing up.
