For anyone who hasn't already got this through the usual channels, the new album is tops. Their most aggressive album yet; good news for fans of "For Real" and "Lady Liberty", bad news for fans of "Maine Island Lovers". It's not a theme album per se like Black Sheep Boy, but it is very self-consciously written from the road, and there are a lot of lyrical references to playing shows and being scrutinized by crowds. Law abiding citizens, mark down 8/7 on your calendars.

for a band that released an appendix of equally great songs for their last album, this one is too short. but i agree that it is good.

This is easily one of my favorites for the year...they kinda have an arcade fire thing going on a few tracks.

Nope. I think the band has finally learned how to play. Chops, Haq, chops.

i'm patiently awaiting its emusic release. if it's an improvement on bsb, this should easily make my top 20 of 2007

While I never openly disliked the band, I never got the thrill out of them that others have gotten. I'm really enjoying this new album, which may be due to its overall length. 41 minutes long is just right. In fact, after it was over I wanted to hear it again.

Would someone hook a brotha up?

I gave an elderly man my old window unit air conditioner today.

Best listen of 2007. May not hold up as the best album, but most enjoyable for me. "Unless its kicks" is absolutely aces

Doesn't reach the highs or lows of Black Sheep Boy for me.

Reminds of the middle of the road rock that DBT trafficked in last year.

Good, but not remarkable.

Seems kind of like they tried for the magic of "Black" without the downtempo stuff everyone seems to hate.

Sounds downright Oberstian to mine ears.

I'm taking back what I said about it being a theme album. I think the theme is probably more consistent here than it was on black sheep boy.
