It's decent, not great, but I keep coming back and listening to it, so there's that.

This is a very good rekkid. Easily the easiest to turn up loud and sing along with.

the deluxe edition has an extra cd with the entire album done acoustically. Its like 12 bucks at insound, and also at cd universe.

This is what I think Spoon should do with their bonus CDs, just do a few old tracks acoustically. I would sure make for a better listen than the bonus CDs from Fiction and Gax5.

And if anyone has the link for this, could you send it to me? I can't wait for this any longer :?

That's where I'm at with it too. There's tracks I love (1-3, 5), tracks I wholly dislike (4), and tracks I can do without (8, and 9 where it breaks down into Sloop John B). But I still keep listening to it. So maybe the ones I dislike will grow on me.

Ohhh, what? That's a great, great moment in music. The whole track, really.

I'm enjoying the album quite a bit. It's a treat to hear them break out the rawk on "Unless It's Kicks" and "You Can't Hold The Hand...". "Our Life..", "Savannah Smiles" and "A Girl In Port" are faves, too.

I think there is only one slow burner that I could really do without.

I just saw them play most of these songs a couple of weeks ago, and they were fantastic live. The newly-electrified rockers had a great impact and the slower songs were intense. I daresay I never expected that I would feel the need to shake my ass so much at an Okkervil River show, but at points, the band was downright ROLLICKIN'.

Bad News: The show was all ages, and as Sheff took the stage, he was swarmed by a group of eleventeen year old girly-girls, asking for photos and autographs. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come.

I agree with this-

and definitely this, really not a fan of that song:

But also this:

There are a couple of spots where this makes me cringe a little.

Overall, I like the rock, but I feel like it's missing some of the highs found on Black Sheep Boy. I'm looking forward to seeing them live next month.

Im in agreement. I mean, its a song about failing at suicide...and these guys certainly do the wall-of-sound crashing off-key harmonies bit as well as anyone right now. Good song, good close.

Im surprised. I expected them to bag on this, simply because I like it so much.

I plan to pick this up tonight. I doubt it will top BSB after listening to it twice on Myspace, but it's solid. I really hope that "Savannah" song grows on me, though :?
