Well, sort of. The Bud Shoot-Out is on tonight. Sort of a preseason all-star race. I know I am in the minority here, but what the fuck?

Goddamn I love me some racin'!

i used to love f1 before it became an exhibition for michael schumacher and ferrari to give everyone else a beat down. ive always thought nascar was exceedingly boring. everybodies pretty much got the same car, and theres too much parody. hell, if i raced for a season on the nascar circuit, i could probably win a race. its just ridiculous.

Tha's the stupidest thing anybody has ever posted on this board.

First get in your car, turn the heat all the way up, and drive 90 miles an hour for 250 miles. Now imagine those conditions doubled. With 42 other people doing the same thing around you.

Nascar is the big leagues. If you find it boring, fine, but you could no sooner drive one of those cars than you could drive the lane on Shaq, hit a Major League curveball or play NFL quarterback.....

If you hate the sport fine, I hate soccer, but I recognize it as a (semi)sport. Don't traffic in the absurd here, Bubba.

Fuck a stock-car. And an open-cockpit racer.

In lieu, give me a horse, damnit. The hippodrome is where shit is good.

Autodromes? Boring.

hold on a second here. i was making a comment about the parody. im sorry you didnt pick up the sarcasm. the sport is governed so that anyone can win. i know its hard to drive the cars, i never said it wasnt. ill be the first in line to say drivers should be considered athletes, although many people dont think they are. i wasnt taking a shot at nascar as a sport, i was just saying that the parody is ridiculous. maybe you just read that comment and didnt read the rest of my post. i watch all types of racing, like f1 (as mentioned before), cart, rallies (fia and dakar), and ill even watch motorcycle racing if i can find it. i am a seasoned racing fan, and i know what im talking about.

I read your whole post NS and I respect that you enjoy open wheel racing (and I wholeheartedly agree with you on motorcycle racing); but other than that you are pretty well wrong.

The truth is, there is less parity than you might think in Nascar, especially in the top tier (Nextel Cup); Of the 43 drivers, who show up 12 or 13 have no shot right off the bat, 10 more would have to get lucky and the rest have to cheat, steal, lie, get lucky, not miss one pit stop by more than 2 seconds, and pray that some jag off with a grudge doesn't push them into a wall; and that's just to finish in the top 10.

The sport is largely dominated by a race of young, cyber freaks, mainly from the midwest and west who have been racing since they were five, toted around like tennis brats.

what im talking about with parity is mostly the points system, along with the regulations. for example, the winner of a race recieves 180 points, while the 10th place finisher recieves 134 points, only 46 points less. i have a problem with the 10th place finisher getting anything, let alone that many points. its the points system that gives guys like matt kenseth the championship, even though he only won three races and won by 90 points, a fairly small but still signifigant lead. even though im a little biased, i gotta say f1 really got the points system right. it always gives the right person the right award.

I agree with you about the deficiencies of the points system. Howevah, I i though the format they adopted last year worked pretty well where they reseeded the top 10 drivers with 10 races to go.

The championship was decided on the last lap of the last race.

I have a feeling that they will fix some of the weight problems that you mention (and that I hate as well) in the future.

They don't always get it right, but they are willing to change(see last years system in response to Kennseth's Championship)

I like any race where if something gets broken on the car, the duc tape it back together. In formula one, if they get a scratch on the paint, it causes too much of a drag and they throw in the towel.

Yeah the Bristol night race is my favorite; it is a combination war of attrition/demolition derby

Obviously you missed chase's thread about North Korea last night. Now that was comedy of the absurd.

Good point, even though I was heavy into the hyperbole in my response to Northern Soul; you are right----that N.lKorea thread contained some of the stupidest shit I've ever read anywhere.

Kenseth's points-series championship: another reason to hate Wisconsin.

Also proves, history happens once, it's cool, twice, it's ghey.

Late Alan Kulwicki and his Polish Victory Lap 100x better than Matt Kenseth winning the points-series without winning a single race.
