Now, let's think about this:

Metallica came up in the 80s, and while not typical of the heavy-metal/hard-rock that was mainstream popular in that era, they still had their core of fans (males, AND females). But, we never hear of Metallica's four having had any groupies. Motley Crue, Faith No More (I mean, for fuck's sake, even the keyboardist, who turned out to be gay, had a girlfriend (Courtney Love?)), Bon Jovi, Slayer (really, really scary girls, certainly); each of those bands, and many more, had their backstage Betties. Metallica had none.

Further, the band re-located early in its existence TO San Francisco.

You do the math.
