There's a style of beer here in Dusseldorf that's apparently specific to this area- called altbier. I just finished, ummm, several of one of the many brands available-this one called Frankenheim. Good. Damned good. Dark amber, pretty hoppy, but clean finish. What y'all having?

Hannen Alt...

Entspannen mit Hannen!

Dude altbier is fucking GOOG. Don't even get me started. You had any kolsch yet? I'll shutup now before Busty appears out of thin air to break my balls or something.

not night here yet, but I imagine I'll be imbibing a seasonal kolsch at Roots brewpub tonight. Might catch some tunes and have a beer at Laurelthirst tonight too. Something local and something good, of course... aka something better than any of youse can get in your bars. ;)

Dude, get your ass out here, and I'll take you to the brewery in Newport. It's pretty amazing.

The 2 big regionals Tentoze should be surrounded by in Dusseldorf are kolsch and alt, my 2 favorite german styles.

I like the sound of "clean finish" -- will have to see if I can find some "altbier" locally.

I need to open that bottle of wine...

yeah, this brewery specializes in organic brews, and every time I've gone in, the kolsch has been out. I was assured it'd be available tonight, so I'm going back. Kolsch and alt-biers are some of my favorites anyway.

Another good one is from Lucky Labrador called Crazy Ludwig's Alt. I think it's seasonal though.

Harpoon's summer beer is a kolsch, and it's fucking tasty.

this is why you need to move out here, Stace... stick with me, and you'll have plans every night of the week. Wanna go see "Kansas City Bomber" with me on Thursday night? On the rooftop of Hotel deLuxe? ;)

Fuck yes I'm down with some drinking tonight.

I normally only drink high end beer, but I've dropped a lot of dough trying to get my '96 Impala up and running again. So I had to downgrade to a 30 pack of Miller Lite.

Enjoying a frosty Pilsner Urquell as we speak. Next up on deck: Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA.

same thing everybody in the world says but it's so good and the 90 minute is pretty much perfect.

as far as the alt's go, these are two i really want to try

Uerige Doppelsticke

and

Uerige Sticke

although i wasn't near dusseldorf i should have tried to find them when i was there last year. i was still largely a beer n00b back then though

Not sure if I have had an Alt, but I lika de Kolsch.

Probably suck back a BL or a Dale's Pale Ale I have leftover from Lake Derris -- not sure how it's lasted this long.

I'm thinking about picking up some vodka for fresh greyhounds (I've recently vowed to take advantage to the crazy citrus out here) but I really, really don't need to drink tonight.

If there's a perk to moving 1200 miles from your wife (and there isn't), it's being able to have 2 beers and chips and salsa for dinner, on the couch, still half in your work clothes.

Pretty much nothing more than vodka with grapefruit juice. And if the grapefruit is fresh-squeezed you got yourself a little bit of godhead in a glass.
