...and I really don't like them ordinarily. Even the video should bug me, given my distaste for costumes and makeup, but for some reason, I'm strangely drawn to it. I think it's the music.

Why does this Phish song have a Marilyn Manson video?

Yesh, it sounded more like Robyn Hitchcock to me.

And here's another: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3BGkF6uNIl0&NR=1

It just might end up as album of the year. If you add the Strawberry Jam B-Side 'Safer' to the album as track number 2, it makes it even stronger.

And how did Safer NOT make this album??? It's one of the best, if not the best song AC has ever made.

I wholeheartedly disagree. I think the song would completely suck the life out of the album. It's WAY better as a b-side (as was Tiquid and Fickle Cycle).

And so far, Strawberry Jam & the new Akron/Family are shaping up as the albums of the year for me. Caribou's up there, too.

The video was on Youtube's main page a few days back, and I remember someone trying to convince me of their goodness a year back or so... maybe Haq I don't really remember. I listened to Fickle Cycle back then and HATED it. But I watched this, and the music just sorta stuck on me. Decent song.

I'm gonna reserve judgment until I've bought the album, but this "Peacebone" song is leaving me completely cold.

....ok then. I can see that, how about as the closing track then? Perhaps a hidden track after Derek?

Really? I heard so much dissapointing stuff about then new Akron. So much so that I have had the album for about 2 weeks now and have yet to give it a listen.

I will have to put it on right now!

I've bought all their albums?

I buy stuff.

And I realize that song might seem different in context. As it is, it seems a little too AC by-the-numbers and is kinda boring. Doesn't mean the whole album will be that way, and I don't really see how it could be.

Drinky, after hearing it about 10 times, I'm gonna say it's not as interesting as Feels. It's a different kind of album. I reserve the right to change my mind.

This band is so damn polarizing that I can't help but like them even though I don't listen to them that much.

I"m interested to see where they go. Will they end up progressing like Modest Mouse to eventual mainstream success or will they completely turn their back on it like Zappa or LIGARSG?

It's ok to post a ysi of just one song right? And a B-Side, at that.

I think "Strawberry Jam" is pretty amazing, as with everything they've done since "Sung Tongs", inclusive. "Chores", "WInter Wonderland", "Reverend Green", "Derek" are all jams. Phish never sounded this good, obviously, but I'm convinced AC are the new Americana, and they were all Deadheads at some point.
