V day sucks.

i already like this thread way more than the other valentine's day one.

Seriously, who cares? I spent the entire day sitting on a hard chair, leaving my ass numb for most of the afternoon. But, ya know what? It's nice when someone out of the blue wishes you a wonderful day and sends a little greeting.

the reason i hate this holiday is that it makes everyone fucking insane. single people are pissed off or depressed or needy. This is a stupid holiday that doesn't matter. It's like dying to have a date on arbor day.

or people are coupled and falling into the whole line of thinking that today is when they should be showering/showered with gifts. What the fuck is that? Is there any worse of a way to suck every ounce of romance out of a relationship than to make up another day where you're expected to throw a bunch of chocolates and oysters and shit at your loved one? Fuck that I'll stick with doing this out of spontaneity and when she's having a bad night.
And then there's the idiots who decorate their homes...

a bit of a rant but i got into a fight about this today with some coworkers who were a)prodding me to reveal some shitty VD plan or b)commiserating at not having anything to do on a monday night. I fucking wish I was single right now, I do. But a few years ago I fell in love and now I've got to sit here listening to the goddamn Wesminster Dog show and read this thread instead of pounding high lifes at the bar and watching the Sixers edge out the Knicks with my friends.

Christ, I don't need to be fucking lectured. I know V-day is the most ridiculous holiday ever invented by man. I was trying make a parody thread on the other Valentine's Day Thread. It was suppose to be funny, ironic, etc. Apparently, I managed to offend people.

I don't think anyone was offended by your thread at all. Just stating opinions on the holiday, which was what I thought threads like this were for. Also, i didn't feel like reading through 3 pages of the other thread.

nah i shoulda toned it down a bit. i'm just sick of hearing about this day in general. I just hate holidays that are supposed to make us think in a certain manner just because of what the calandar says. Kinda takes the point out of having emotions, no? Holidays that are suppose to make us drink on the other hand are funny. So, on the whole, i'm split on the whole holiday thing.

I've found in my 24 yrs of life that most people just say things to be courteous (Ultimately, to feel better about themselves) and they don't really give a shit. But, that's just my experience.

I didn't do anything today besides pay my car insurance, went to the post office to mail some shit, hung out with my nephew, niece, sister, her husband and their crazy dog and then bought some cd's at Newbury Comics.

aren't all the holidays pretty much made up?
