Just pulled this out, and have listened to it in nigh its entirety. Doubt I ever had before this -- and I've owned it eight-plus years. It is really good; I think it reminds me, at most points, of the Birthday Party. The single's are a bit more Refreshments-like, which figures, since Paul Leary produced that band....

But, yeah, this is probably a total cop-out, sell-out piece-of-shit that totally defrauds but still trades on the Butthole's early masterworks. Still, I like.

Your thoughts?

I thought it was O.K., but not all-that-o.k.

If that makes any sense...

Easily my least favorite Surfers album but there are some good moments. "Cough Syrup" is an "A" level Surfers cut.(sort of a hybrid between "Sea Ferring" and "Ricky") I believe it was the only track to make Volume 1 of my Surfers comp.: The Butthole Surfers' Worst Shits

"The Lord is a Monkey" is excellent. "My Brothers Wife" is pretty damn good; and the rest I could take or leave.

Monty, do you own any real Surfers albums? I'd be happy to turn you on brother.

Edit: By "take or leave" I mean Its fucking awesome.

I haven't pulled this out in quite some time, and was a relative Surfers neophyte when this album broke big, so it still gets high marks from me.

Monty, if I were you, I'd take Bloor up on his offer. Why, just the other night we were huffing Dust Remover and jamming out to "X-Ray of a Girl Passing Gas" the man knows his Surfers.
