There was no way I was watching the Grammys with Extreme Makeover, Desperate Housewives, and Boston legal on at the same time on ABC. Extreme Makeover made me cry again.

i'm not sure that's true anymore.

i'm honestly surprised the hype over the Black Album died down. It's the kind of album the grammy's love. a "bow out" album from a legend that they never recognized. And it was awesome.

YES!! Had I heard it earlier, "Diary..." would've been right behind New Pornographers in my top 2 of 2003.
She's just the total package. Someone who has amazing talent and strapped herself to a rocket to make the most out of it. At the same time, there's some humility and appreciation mixed in there, too. She's the anti-JLo.
Going to see her for the first time next month and I haven't looked that forward to a concert in forever.

(swoon)

i don't let her semi-cuteness get in the way of me not liking her singing.

If I had been drinking my Mountain Dew at the moment I read this, I might have made a mess.

I don't know how anyone watched this with ABC's awesome lineup for the evening. Home makeovers for poor people, hot desperate housewives, brilliant one-liners in Boston Legal (shatner is beyond awesome). I watched ABC for 4 hours straight last night, except for when Johanna was flipping back to the grammy's during commercials. Everything I saw was horrible.

I watched Billy Zane tear up the scenery guest-starring on Charmed. Then I went to bed cuz I had to get up at 3 am.

I do agree that Shatner is beyond awesome.

I think she has tons of talent but it all seems like a put on to me. I mean she studied music at Columbia University for chrissakes and everytime you see her in an interview she's droppin da street slang keepin it on da real real. I don't want to be a hater but I can't get over it. I just see some PR guy behind the scenes telling her how she should talk and act etc.

Come on, you can only listen to the Fiery Furnaces for so long before you need to put something listenable in the CD player such as Alicia Keys.

this is exactly how i feel. it feels like such an act. like the kids who did plays in school. everything about her seems like a drama class kid with a better singing voice that she pushes way farther than she needs to.

she has talent, but i think she needs to lose the act and learn the gift of subtlety. or not, she could just keep winning grammy's, gold records, 60 minute spotlights and so forth.

He should have taken home a few Grammies.

Cnet has the story about the first internet-only Grammy award winning album. I guess this is of some significance.

I would prefer listening to Alicia doing a set of Mountain covers rather than the Fiery Furnaces.

this is why i hate the grammies:

Quote:
Best Dance Recording

* Toxic
Britney Spears
Avant & Bloodshy, producers; Niklas Flyckt, mixer
Track from: In The Zone
[Jive/Zomba Label Group]

...but yet why i still pay attention to the grammies:

Quote:

Best Electronic/Dance Album

* Kish Kash
Basement Jaxx
[XL Recordings/Astralwerks]

b. jaxx won a grammy, sweet.

and wilco won best alternative album. "alternative?" but still, can't complain there.

i personally think matt dear should've been up in the best dance recording category, but what do these people know about GOOD dance music anyway.... but yes, kudos to b. jaxx for getting best electronic album.

I wonder if Annie counts as a dance album. Mouse On Mars deserved a nod too.
