not to complain, but there are a lot of bands that don't come to pittsburgh, even though we get a good amount of decent shows.

everyone i would REALLY want to see never comes closer than cleveland or philly.

in their defence, i think i did hear about a pay to play policy that some of the clubs have. who knows.

just wanted to bitch. anyone else live in an area completely devoid of the shows YOU would want to see?

Spent my first 22 years in Buffalo & other parts of upstate NY. Nice to visit, but just can't live there.

I like Philly, but kinda doubt I'll stay here permanently. But from here on out I'll only live in major cities. And not just for the shows, I love the diversity & culture, etc.

No one ever comes to nyc. I've gotta get out of this one-horse town.

Just look at a map and see where Marquette, Michigan is located.

I doubt there are many locations in the continental US that are further away from ANY large cities.

My options:
drive 5 1/2 hours to Duluth,
6 hours to Milwaukee or Madison, WI
7 hours to Chicago,
8 hours to Detroit

So, no, I don't get to many good shows either.

What about Mike (saved)? Doesn't he live in some town WAAAAAY out in the middle of Louisiana? I think he needs to go to the next state to see a show.

hey man don't complain to me, in the 2 years before i left pittsburgh there were a total of three small-scale venues in town, and this is including the notorious Metropol/"club M", that started forcing their shows to end at 10PM in order to host their teen dance night or whatever it was. Can you imagine kicking Ween offstage at 10? Anyway, the mistake was in closing Graffiti.

Savannah got fewer shows than the 'burgh when i lived there, so i gess it's kinda relative.

Edit: But then the Modey Lemon just played Gooski's, which has the potential to be the greatest show ever. But then the last time I was at Gooski's everyone seemed like they were on heroin, so maybe not.

He's about halfway between Baton Rouge and New Orleans, but yeah, it's is pretty much BFE. And I am the ONLY obnoblin to ever visit him there!!! Of course, all of the tabloid shows (Extra, Access Hollywood, etc.) have been there quite often, to stalk hometown girl Britney S. Federline.

No shit. I used to live with some friends from Houghton/Hancock. I thought they turned the light off when they left.

I'm in Vermont, but I really can't complain about being two hours from Boston or just under four from NYC.

yeah, i do like it, except for the fact that no one comes up to play. i swear, if they could get metallica up there (who are like gods) they could get at least 2 or 3 thousand people. they came up a while ago for a private party a beer company was putting on, but most people couldnt get in. i wouldnt want to move, but my career path may not always keep me up there, and im ok with that. but if it did, i would always look to come back.
aural, if you zoom out enough, the white spots are by greenland. the other parts are kind of yellow. thats all land. heres a picture of yellowknife

were you planning on seeing the arcade fire too? cause their pittsburgh show was cancelled, even though they're doing the rest of the tour. bad news.

Yes. Why cannot they come to Pittsburgh?...

I mean, Pittsburgh's got a really cool tunnel, it's a tunnel that looks like a funnel....

(From some throwaway track on a CMJ disc of late '98, early '99 vintage, I think.)
