some excellent news for sigur ros fans:

"heima" will be released this fall. you can view the trailer on the official website.

also the band will release a double compliation album on november the 5th - called “hvarf-heim”.

the first part, hvarf, will have studio versions of unreleased songs, ’salka’, ‘hljómalind’, ‘í gær’ and ‘von’ - all four live favourites from over the years. the second disc is called “heim” and will have acoustic studio versions of ’samskeyti’, ’starálfur’, ‘vaka’, ‘ágætis byrjun’, ‘Heysátan’ and ‘von’.

Picked this up today and just watched it in its entirety. Christ on a cross, what a great fucking watch. Aside from some odd song omissions, the mix of music, scenery, interviews, etc. was first rate. Even the Mrs. (who was supposed to be decorating the tree) sat down and watched for a bit.

Anyway, I was quite blown away and highly recommend it to anyone on the fence about picking it up.

I went and saw a screening of this tonight at the University Film complex. It was a fucking gorgeous movie with great songs. I essentially share Dale's comment, it is nearly impossible for me to describe how magnificent it was.

Hopefully I get this one in my stocking for Christmas. I missed the screening at the local movie house last weekend. You guys should really go to Iceland some time. I spent two weeks there on my honeymoon and it was amazing.

i've had this for almost 2 weeks now and i still havent had a chance to watch it. this weekend should be perfect with all the snow we've got.

i hope y'all sprung for the deluxe version. beautiful packaging and a neat book of pretty photos.
