What about Supergrass? Haven't heard their self-titled album though.

their self-titled was very good...the only one that I've missed is Life on Other Planets...so, assuming it's solid, they should definitely be on the list

Road to Rouen wasn't their best album, but it def wasn't dud

life on other planets is their ode to glam-rock. i'd say it falls between the debut and self-titled album on the supergrass chart. i like it a lot.

As I'm not a completist, I really don't know enough full catalogs to contribute much.

Agreed on:
Tool
Hold Steady
Gomez
White Stripes
Strokes

Ones that would probably make it if I knew the whole catalog:
Wilco
Son Volt
Sigur Ros
Afghan Whigs
Opeth
Mastodon
Jimmy Eat World
Spoon
Low
Built to Spill
Lightning Bolt
Rancid

Definitely. They're right at 3 albums now, all very solid.

The first Lightning Bolt album isn't very good.

Good call on the Notwist, except their first two albums are kind of mediocre. Not duds, but I don't even recommend them to fans, unless those fans also like garage band metal.

Some friends of mine are really into them, but it's hard for me to get past the Evanescence-for-metal-scenesters impression I first made. Talented band, though.

I was trying to think the other day of currently active recording bands with at least 3 releases whose entire catalog is worth owning and I couldn't come up with many. I think Dinosaur Jr. is the only one i could think of.

What says you. For quality control, assume "worth owning" means that you either own it or its on your shopping list if you don't, and that if you do own it and your entire collection was stolen but your insurance was going to cover buying an equivalent amount of new music that you would repurchase it.

Man, I wouldn't put Dinosaur Jr. in that category at all. A handful of great songs and no great albums. Then again, I guess it's easier to not have any duds if your entire catalogue is an undistinguished wash of meh.

For me:

Rancid
Ween
Spoon
You Am I
Gingersol

The Gourds
The Fleshtones
Cowboy Junkies

All the others I can think of fall in the singer/songwriter category - or have disbanded.

And Diggity Dawg needs to get in here and pimp for the Supersuckers and the Wildhearts

wow rads - major props
