i never hear people talk about this compilation.
it's flat out fantastic.

It takes us on a ride as he changes from child prodigy genius to right before his explosion of amazing 70's albums. (I belive it goes up to the songs on "music of mind") I don't think most of these songs are available on regular stevie albums, though i could be wrong about that.

every song is beautiful and amazing.

sadly this isn't available on CD, but it's really easy to find on vinyl.

'Tis indeed pretty fantastic, though it only really covers the '60s and a smidge of the early '70s. For some reason, it took Motown for-fucking-ever to put out a comprehensive Stevie collection on CD--not until the 4-disc box At the Close of the Century in 1999!

There's a pretty great all-the-hits 2-discer from 2002 called The Definitive Collection which, at the very least, every human on the planet should own. (Though it does make the one mistake that At the Close of the Century doesn't--it includes...*shudder*..."Ebony and Ivory.")

I've never heard the Stevie Anthology but I've got the Marvin Gaye Anthology.

It's really great too. And yes I found the 3 disc vinyl for less than $2. I've seen that Stevie around a lot too. I'll pick it up next time.

i have that 2 disker and i dont' like the way it's arranged. too much shmaltz mixed in with his best songs. It's nice to have some of those shmaltzy sogns that i have a soft spot for, but i see no reason to not just buy every album he put out in the 70's.

I have Original Musiquarium, and I think it's just about right

i agree, the definitive collection focuses too evenly on the chronological order of his work, when he so dramatically declined in the 80s. it also doesn't have "I never dreamed you'd leave in summer", so i begrudge it a bit.
