Any opinions on this? It was a recommendation from Amazon and sounds interesting.

I think Drinky Crow really likes it. It's good, and I like it better than, for example, Will Oldham, but there's not much to distinguish it from the rest of the folkiverse. It gets a touch boring at times.

Good album. Definitely recommended if you like Devendra Banhart, since he is in it and all. If you like the new folk movement, then definitely look into it or at least download a track.

I like Rejoicing in the Hands by Barnhart but have yet to buy much of anything else in that "scene". I'm interested in the Animal Collective and Newsom.

My favorite track on rejoicing is "Fall" if that provides any insight. The one track that sounds like a band.

It's a good album.

Cabic doesn't have a distinctive singing voice, and the album has a fairly homogenous, pleasant feel. However, I find myself going back to it as much or more than the Banhart and Newsom albums. Maybe not as much as Animal Collective, but I don't really think they belong in the same grouping.

Some highlight songs for me are "Without a Song", "Angel's Share" (w/ Hope Sandoval), and "On a Nerve". Really the whole album is of pretty even quality.

edit: And considering how it really isn't "out there" like other "freak folk" stuff, it would probably have just as much appeal to fans of Iron & Wine and Sufjan Stevens.

This album is reminiscent of saturday and sundays picking rasberries and eating watermelon on the farm. during the summer. I like it alot.

Sounds like Jerry, very much so.

I listened to this this morning again, and really really liked it. It's very strong. Well not strong like mighty, but it'll tickle you.
