"Lonesome Day," even though it wasn't a big hit, is that one that will probably keep life on soft rock radio. "The Rising" somewhat, too.

"Waitin On a Sunny Day" is a better track; "The Rising" got some classic rock/AOR/Active A/C play and they sold it as a single (awards shows etc.) but I never could figure that out. I thought it was weak as a single.

I mean, is it bad to have a single and (gasp) sell records?

I never said that. I said I like the non-singles better. "Waitin' On A Sunny Day" never cracked the Top 100, even though it's better than "Lonesome Day"

"The Rising" was an adult contemporary hit (Top 10) because its lyrics connected with listeners in the wake of 9/11.

Countin on a Miracle and Further on Up the Road are my fave tracks. And I don't think anyone will be embarresed to be hearing them on deep-album cuts playlists or when Bruce busts 'em out en concert.

Oh yeah, Frosty, it was two seperate issues dude:

1. I asked you as a P.D. (I appreciate your input/info----it was purely a radio question)

2. I just gave my opinion on marketable singles

Not connected, but thanks for the info.

I'm not a fan.

However, I have a CD3 (remember those? 3" CDs that you had to have the special well in your CD tray to play 'em?) of Bruce doing Cover Me and Pink Cadillac. I don't want it, and I'm sure there's someone out there who would relish it, collector that you are.

First one who PMs me gets it.

Two of his worst songs that I still have to hear all the time at my station. Nah. Someone else can have it.

"Cover Me" is a pretty tight song.

Plus, I already PM'ed for the CD.

Why not I say, why not?

They're both good pop songs, with clever lyrics, but they're no "For You" or "Highway Patrolman."

YB's got it. Please, the rest of you, quit typing now.

Frosting- there's a 12" on its way to you w/ 5 extended remixes of Dancing In The Dark.

As far as I'm concerned, there is no other Courtney. Only the young one.

When he turns 60, Bruce should cut an album of indie covers to freak people out....like maybe some Cat Power song.

Bruce covering "Names"?!?!? Color me intrigued.

Perhaps he could even re-write the lyrics...

His name was Clarence
He played the saxophone
His fans called him "The Big Man"
His sleeves were always cut off
His friend was Jackson Browne
He's now 63 years old
He's now 63 years old
He's now 63 years old

Her name was Julianne
Beautiful round breasts, so impressed
Told me she had to focus on her career
After she appeared in "Fletch Lives"
She left; I got Patti
She was 28 years old
She was 28 years old
She was 28 years old

His name was Max
He said he wanted to drum for me
We were both E Street
Then he had to move away
Then he begin to do Conan
Where he had his own band
I don't know where he is
I don't know where they are
