The thing that struck me was how much cooler the older footage was, and how they aren't/haven't really done that great a job of synching the two stories.

While I am sure I will see this, I still think Lucas should've left well enough alone

nope. i'm still fucking blown away that Lucas wasn't finished drafting the script until 3 days before shooting.

A guy that I'm in touch with knows an insider (not at Lucasfilm, an independent working WITH the film) and he says that after seeing a rough cut he ranks the films

1) Empire
2) Revenge of the Sith
3) A New Hope
4) Clones
5) Jedi
6) Menace

I concur with his rankings of the other five.....I hope he's right about Sith.

Attack of the Clones is definitely a better movie than Jedi

Also, I'm sick of the backlash. That is all.

I disagree with Clones being better than Jedi. Clones is terrible. Backlash, shmacklash, if something is supposed to build upon a great story/film/album and sucks asshole in hell, then it deserves all the backlash it gets.

Not trying to be a dick, Spade, but shit like this and The Indiana Jones sequel and remakes of stuff that should not be remade, really, really get my goat.

Lucas has nothing to lose by making this movie. It's the last one, it should be the darkest and most dire, he can use years of knowledge to wow our eyes.

I have high hopes, and judging by the trailer (thanks Spade), it should be fantastic.

Definitely what the 8 year old in me wanted to see after watching Star Wars in theatres in 1977.

Fair question....how many times have you seen Clones, and how old were you when you first saw Jedi.

I couldn't disagree more. I've seen Clones quite a few times, and I love the story. The plot is the most intricate of the five existing films. If you dislike the way Anakin's character comes across....guess what, you're supposed to dislike his character. I think Jedi is a pretty marginal movie. Hamill is TERRIBLE is that movie, worse that Christensen by a country mile. It's honestly laughable. The ewoks stuff is pure camp and the 3PO stuff is totally unnecessary. The best part of that film is the first 30 minutes in Jabba's palace and it takes a sharp downhill turn after that.

Twisted scum like me are supposed to LIKE Anakin's character...he's supposed to turn evil, me likey.
Think about the Yoda thing. That was pure shit, and it just didn't look good. That whole gladiator fight at the end was boring. The only interesting part of the film is the chase scene near the begining.
I think the intricate plot is one of the fuckups of the new sereis, as much doesn't jibe with the timeline. Maybe this one will be dark enough for my tastes, but much like people prefer older albums, with shoddier production, mine eyes enjoy the older, less computer generated graphics.

And don't even get me started on "Space Pimp Jedi" Samuel Jackson.

Just wanna add that I also think Clones is better than Jedi. The acting in both is pretty bad, but somehow I think Clones comes out on top of that contest.

And Return of the Jedi is the first movie I ever saw in a theater (I think). I was three.

The new trailer looks cool, but I've heard lots of people talking shit about it. I hope they're wrong. If they've kept it to an action movie as much as possible, then it should be fantastic. I think the action sequences in Clones are the best of all the films.

I'm also hoping that those Clone Wars cartoons get compiled onto a DVD soon. Those were neat.

i think even if the acting or whatever was better in clones. i'm still going to like the original three over any of the newer ones.

i just hope the new one is ok.

looking forward to this movie even if my disdain for jar jar and my disappointment in "menace" still lingers.

clones vs jedi is a toss up. i think i'd pick jedi based on childhood sentimentality. clones was unnecessarily complicated, especially comparing it to the other "2nd act" movie, "empire".

here's to hoping seth is (appropriately) the darkest star wars movie of all! (a good script wouldn't hurt either)

It sounds like in recent interviews, and in most interviews really, that Lucas(he) knows his quality of writing is ass. He has a writing staff, yet he admits to making the movies for kids. We were kids when the first ones came out, and admittedly, Empire is less a kids movie, but ROTJ is Nickelodeon central. Knowing all this we can't expect too much from him. I have high hopes like everyone else, but I still won't be able to watch it with the pre-teen mentality it was meant for.

For what it is worth, I loved parts of Clones. The platform scene with Obi-wan and Boba Fett in the rain was very cool, the whole chase scene. The very beginning of the movie, Padme in disguise.. etc...

Again, I am VERY excited to see this. I know I will love it, because I like the movie escape.

Lucas isn't trying to make a "Schindler's List" here.

"let go Luke!"

hey Matt, thanks for sharing! I'm like most everyone else here-- very disappointed with the first two, but this one piques my interest big time. Let's hope ol' George can save face with this one.

(plus I secretly love hearing Chewbacca howl)
