OK, so Shiv and I often have differences of opinion, and I'm not sure we have agreed on any kind of music since I've been posting on CMJ/Obner..that said, he sent me a copy of his latest mix, and I am going to send a copy of a DBT mix that is in the works.

First impression was, if the music comtained therein was half as good as the cover art, or title, this might be the best mix I have ever heard. And though I dunno if this is the best mix ever, it is pretty fucking good.

The first track is a Tom Brokaw(?shiv) sample in which he mentoins bukkake. It is one of the funniest things I have ever heard.

The music beigin with what I was under the impression was Shiv's favorite stuff. Fast, punkish noise rock. Normally this is not my bag, but the intro to the Japanthers track "Divorce" is tops, and the song is good as well. "Supa Doopa" by Les Georges Leningrad reminds of the Buthole Surfers minus the acid and the redneck, if that makes any sense.

Apparently this is broekn into three seperate sections, because after a pretty funny sample, it goes into three rap tracks. And while I pretty well dismiss ;indie' rap, the 2nd Resident Alien's "Mr. Boops" reminds me of old skool Big Daddy Kane, and is pretty fucking hot. The third is Daedelus, which reminds me of standard NYC underground, which is not necessarily bad.

The third section segues into some Queen, and then goes into some of the best shit I have ever heard. Sonic Youth's version of "Superstar" will heretofore and henceforth be inlcuded on muchos shiot by yours truly. The Blind Willie Johnson track reminds me of Leadbelly, and that is NOT a bad thing. It gets evene werider after that. A semi-slow pop song, a great neo-50s gem by Tmooy Roe, and one of the funniest songs I have ever heard, "You Are the Light" by Jens Lekman...mostly about how the author would rather be whooping with the girl it's written to, than being busted.

All in all, this mix was a big surprise, and surprisingly good. I hope my part of it holds up as well.

****if this make no sense, i am already shit faced, drinking whiskey and everything else under the sun with my dad.

Did me some Guinness toast. I didn't know when it was, time-wise, so I'm keeping up a steady flow of "bread" so's to be sure not to miss it.
