Nothing beats an asocial, cold-blooded vertebrate as a pet.

I thought the bearded dragons ate mealworms.

I had chameleons growing up. they ate mealworms. They were a pretty boring pet though. Just sat there on a branch or rock. It got tiresome staring at them waiting for them to change colors or watching their necks stretch as they breathed in and out.

Good one on the shattered glass catheter.

Between Elvis Fu, Shiv, Billy G, & Ayah, I think PopTodd takes an inordinate amount of abuse on this board. Or maybe I'm taking boarding too seriously?

As it is, it seems that EFSBGA do, as they never miss a chance to knock PT.

Have we not learned anything from the Dead Milkmen? Do you really want Army men in your backyard?

Big lizard in my backyard
Can't afford to feed him anymore
Big lizard in my backyard
Bustin' down my neighbour's door

I bought a big lizard
Only a dollar fifty
Well, that's pretty neat
Yeah it's fuckin' nifty
But I just can't afford to feed it
And you should see the way it shits

I've got a big lizard in my backyard
Can't afford to feed it anymore
Big lizard in my backyard
Bustin' down my neighbour's door

I was knocked outta bed
Late last night
I was woken up by the sound of dynamite
I ran downstairs to find an army man
He said "We gotta blow up those things we don't understand!"

There's no more big lizard in my backyard
I won't have to feed him anymore
No more lizard in my backyard
They shipped his ass to El Salvador!

Was knocked outta bed
Late last night
I was woken up by the sound of dynamite
I ran downstairs to find an army man
He said "We gotta blow up those things we don't understand!"

Big lizard in my backyard
Can't afford to feed it anymore

Well, Todd sets up a lot of slow ones over the plate, and wears the mantel of humility pretty willingly. Also, this doesn't really strike me as "abuse," for the record.

Lizards are, in fact, pretty damn boring.

Oh geez...Todd, don't be an idiot. Get the kid a 10 gallon aquarium and he'll be fine...

They're very cheap these days and they now have filters that are very easy to maintain and require little to no work...

Get the kids one of these:

I'm sure you can shave off that tuft of hair on its head. No hair. Allergy problem solved.

Who will touch this reptile? I remember having dwarf frogs when I was younger. My mom was so mad because they'd hop out of the bowl and I'd make her grab them because I was too creeped out.

What if this thing escapes?

This will totally emulate the desert lifestyle he's used to... put a little cactus in there and the stupid lizard won't even miss his family!

My younger brother kept an Iguana for many years. Damn thing didn't do too much but stare.

That's my only experience with anything in the lizard family. Honestly don't remember what it ate.

I agree with Chris, get the kid some colorful fish. At least they move around.

Iguanas like veggies. Warmed green beans, lettuce, etc.

And they only poop in the bathtub, with a little warm water in the bottom.

iguanas were the mascots of pot dealers in the 70's and 80's.

i can see todd getting into a staring match with this thing and then going into an epileptic fit because of the weird patterns on it's scales.

I've never had a lizard for a pet, but I pet-sitted an iguana when I in high school for a friend. They seem fairly harmless. This one ate lettuce sprinkled with Reptomin or some powdery goodness that I guess helps with digestion. I remember I just had to put him in a bathtub once a week as well.

I had a frog for a little while. I lost interest in it pretty quickly.

Kids'll do that.

Dammit...I couldn't find any pictures from Cheech & Chong's Nice Dreams of Stacy Keach as "Mr. Lizard."

All this time I thought Whit Stillman was an actual filmmaker, but it turns out he's just another Christopher Guest character!
