Yeah, 'Conquest' is one of my favourites on the album too. I didn't think it would be that polarizing.

I get why it is, but it doesn't bother me. The ebay commercial that feature the original (I think) recording give me teh lolz.

I deleted Conquest off the iPod. Now the album almost qualifies as a masterpiece. I'm very happy because I hated the last one.

The White Stripes might never put out a genuinely great album (for me they are the archetypal 'live' band who seem a little out of place in the studio) but their albums have been a model of consistency all through this decade.

Another 'good' album then, and long may they continue.

I think WBC is close to a genuinely great album but you're right in general. They're greatest hits will be pretty bad ass.

For some reason I've been playing the crap out of this album this week.

I think I'm subliminally trying to convince myself that its ok for the guitar player in my band to use his Whammy pedal too much and needed to hear JW doing the same.

Oddly enough, I took out both Get Behind Me and Icky Thump out for spins today. I forgot how much I liked that former album.
