Taken from the First Reading at my church service this morning...

Numbers 13:29 Wrote:
The Amalekites live in the Negev; the Hittites, Jebusites and Amorites live in the hill country; and the Canaanites live near the sea and along the Jordan.

I don't think my wife was amused when I pointed out to her that this proves there really WAS a Jebus...but the truth shall set her free!!!

I have a pretty funny picture in my head of you stifling a chuckle in the middle of church...like I used to when they talked about just about anything.

<=====Except for weddings and funerals, hasn't been to church since 1994.

I went to church a year ago and they were calling Harry Potter part of the devil's plan or something. I started cracking up and people looked at me.

I never returned to that church.

But I've been to a Mosque one time and that was weird. The Buddhist temple I went to was the neatest...but I'm not one for praying.

Unless it's a song by MC Hammer.

I sometimes go to church but only to get some peace and quiet.

It's the only place to go now since they turned all the libraries into glorified internet cafes.

I would go to church if there were any around here that would lighten up. I don't mean Unitarian/Universalist kind of vagueness, but one that doesn't smack its congregation over the head with literalism, legalism and conservative political activism.

I've got definite beliefs, so I'd find a vague church that was basically just a social club to be irritating and pointless, but I'm not going to go to a fundamentalist one either.

Maybe I should ask Bono, Van Morrison and Bruce Cockburn what church they go to.

I had a moment at about 8 yrs of age where it dawned on me that I wasn't in. You either believe or you don't, and the rest follows from there. All the arguments start from that fork in the road. Kinda sucks to figure it out that soon...

Needless to say, my point in starting this thread was because of the funny Jebus reference actually found in The Bible, not to debate the pros and cons of Christianity. I respect everyone's personal beliefs, so I just want to make sure everyone understands that I'm not trying to cram God down any of your throats here. Yes, I go to church. Yes, I am a Christian. But that doesn't mean I have anything against people who aren't Christian, nor am I making any attempt to convince anyone to convert, etc. We're all free to be what we are here at Obner, and that's why I like it so much here.

Bob, you could preach to us in Pig Latin. That might be fun. Pig Aramaic, maybe?

If you did the Jebus Throat Cram like it were a Bernie Mac standup, I might listen.

Oh, I didn't think for a second that's what yr. trying to do..I was just saying that it was a pretty funny mental picture of you trying to stifle a chuckle/give a poke to the ribs of the esteemed Mrs. FT..not to bag on religion. Whatver floats yr. boat, Bobbo. (I post this, cuz I think I sent yr. Jebus thread in an anti-Jebus direction,a nd I didn't mean to do that, either)
