Whoa, what's up with this one? By description and being Al Kooper-related, it seems like something I should hear.

I haven't heard it yet DJ. I just ordered it from caiman today. Stumbled across it searching through Al Kooper's credits again. It stood out because his role was seemingly very large (played multiple instruments, produced/arranged, etc).

Then looking at amazon, it had three reviews all of which were five stars and a couple of comparisons to the Left Banke who I love.

Here's a link to the liner notes for anyone interested in more detail.

That Shuggie Otis has a few bonus tracks from the Shuggie/Al Kooper super session and is really good too so I'm guessing that I'm gonna have to pick that album up next in my search for all things Al Kooper.

Let us... well, me... know what you think of CTA. I loved it (surprisingly as discussed in another thread) when I heard it years ago, but haven't listened lately.

I always look at the Fania stuff, but they always have way too many tracks for me to invest in.

are you saying there are too many tracks/album? I haven't found that at all. most are 10-12 tracks. Those two fania allstars are 10 tracks combined.

I went to amoeba last night hoping to get the new DBT's after not finding it at best buy or target. They didn't have it either but I ended up with:
