So although none of my lame-ass friends would go to see Liquid Soul last night at Billy's in "G-Rap," I decided to see what they're all about. I saw a description of them as a brass-driven jazz/funk/dance band, and that can mean a lot of different things, many of which are not my cup of tea.

I got there about 9 o'clock, and there wasn't a seat to be had in the place. It was a good turnout for this town, especially on a week night.

About 30 seconds into their first song, I knew I'd like this band and I have to say I was mightily impressed. Not only are they really talented, but really a lot of fun too.

After their first set, I introduced myself to Phil and we chatted for a bit before he had to get back to the rest of the band. It was cool to meet him, especially since he's a nice guy and seems really to be a class act.

I know I'm not saying anything new to the people who have seen Liquid Soul and/or met Phil, but for those of you who haven't seen them, go (and bring a partner and your dancing shoes)!

Kickass. Though I lived with Phil during the beginning of his stint with Liquid Soul, this month's NYC show will be the first time I see them actually play. Can't wait.

Totally true. I'm going to do all I can to get to the Boston show.

Is anyone else going to this? If I'm not alone I may dance.

I may be there. Depends on if my application that's due the next day is finished. Make sure you post here if you're going.

and that's the truth.

We should be back at Billy's in the next couple of months, and i'll be sure to get there earlier. Looking forward to shooting the shit and having a beer with you.

Peace,
Phil
