They've got a few of the new songs on their myspace, I actually just made "A Ghost To Most" my profile song this AM.

For the Atlanta folks, they're also doing a 2 night stand at the 40 Watt in Athens the weekend of Jan. 11th and 12th before the tour starts.

Also, a benefit at Nuci's Space on the 10th.

19 songs - 75 minutes. I guess they're putting out the antithesis to A Blessing and a Curse.

Damn. Double album?

I may have to look into getting that sucker on vinyl if they put it out on vinyl.

Right, but it'll have to be a double LP.

Anybody interested in going to one of the 40 Watt shows? My wife will be out of town for the weekend so I'm solo and wouldn't mind going.

I had posted a thread about their tour dates earlier and how I was going to try to go to the Omaha gig, but now Daniel Johnston is playing a gig as well and it is on a Saturday.

Thought this was actually pretty funny. Pretty sure, they'll get the backdrop back. Dang.

Open Letter to the Guy who stole our backdrop in San Diego:

OK guy, let's assume you were drunk and just being a stupid idiot for
a night.

Shit Happens. I've done stupid shit while drunk too (although never as
badly as you did the other night).

Let's just say, we know who you are and I'd like to offer you the
chance to redeem yourself and perhaps save yourself some hurt.
Drive-By Truckers is not some faceless corporate conglomerate. We are
very much a family business.

One that is running its affairs on a hairline budget during these
tough economic times.

We're making a living, but we have to watch every penny to do so.
In short, you just stole about a thousand dollars from our children
and that really pisses me off.

Especially since we were personally hospitable to you when you sneaked
backstage last night.

That's Right. We know who you are and saw the film, in fact we have it
in our possession.

See, House of Blues is a big corporation so everything everybody does
there is on tape from many angles.

We know your face and what you were wearing and we have you on tape
stealing our backdrop.

We know what you do for a living too.

We will go to the authorities and prosecute you fully.

Or, you can send us back our backdrop. Anonymously. No questions asked.

Mail it immediately to
DRIVE-BY TRUCKERS
PO BOX 667
ATHENS GA 30601

Oh and don't ever do it again, because we will be watching out for you,

Yours Sincerely and Pissed,
Patterson Hood

I went to see them friday. They still put on a great show.

SET LIST:
"The Fourth Night of My Drinking"
"3 Dimes Down"
"Drag the Lake Charlie"
"Birthday Boy"
"Girls Who Smoke"
"Tornadoes"
"A Ghost to Most"
"My Sweet Annette"
"Women without Whiskey"
"This Fucking Job"
"Get Downtown"
"(It's Gonna Be) I Told You So"
"After the Scene Died"
"Sink Hole"
"Uncle Frank"
"The Flying Wallendas"
"Puttin' People on the Moon"

ENCORE:
"Zip City"
"Let There Be Rock"
"Shut Up and Get on the Plane"

It was cool to see Patterson and Cooley alternating leads and trying to one up each other. I have much higher hopes for the Big To Do growing on me after having seen so many of the songs live.

Tornadoes
Carl Perkins Cadillac
Santa Fe
Love Like This
Box of Spiders
Women Without Whiskey
Lookout Mountain

After The Scene Dies
Birthday Boy
Girls Who Smoke
Zip City
The Flying Wallendas
Puttin' People On The Moon

Encore:

Let There Be Rock
Three Dimes Down
Home Field Advantage
The Wig He Made Her Wear
Shut Up And Get On The Plane
Buttholeville
State Trooper
People Who Died

Great setlists for both shows. Love the "People Who Died" closer. The crowds get worked into such a tizzy for that. In Cville night #2 they did "Strutter" and "PWD" and I thought the crowd was gonna implode.

I'm jealous of the much longer encore TOK got. It sucks to see a band like the DBT's at Avalon because they make so much money of the DJ shows they have late night that they'll rush a band like the DBT's off stage when they'd gladly play longer. Otherwise, I was happy with the set list. Could have used a good cover thrown in but I'm not really complaining.

Fri June 18 in Nashville. I missed them last time around, so I'm extra excited.

Did they have an opener that night, billy? DBT was the only one on the bill for us.

The Henry Clay People opened. I showed up a little late and probably missed almost half of their set. I like their debut album but didn't enjoy what I heard of their set much. They are an LA band so I'm not sure if they were on much of the tour or just the CA shows.
