Golden State by John Doe is 1006x this song.

So I finally sat down to make the end of year mix. My parameters were that the album has to have come out in 2007 and the mix can't exceed 80 minutes (standard cd-r length). I've left out some great albums, not to mention songs. I went with one song per band, except for Animal Collective since I find that Strawberry Jam was my favorite album of the year. Thus, two songs were represented. Also, somehow my second favorite album of the year (LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver) isn't represented.

I wanted to have some sort of flow to the mix, thus, there's some odd song choices off of some of the albums.

In any case - here it is:

Turzi - A
They Might Be Giants - The Mesopotamians
Battles - Atlas (Note: Possibly the best song of the year)
Tuung - Bullets
Yeasayer - 2080
Akron/Family - Lake Song/New Ceremonial Song for Moms
Radiohead - Wierd Fishes/Arpeggi
Liars - Houseclouds
Black Dice - Kokomo
Animal Collective - Chores
Ween - With My Own Bare Hands
Earthless - Cherry Red
Growing - Emseepee
Citay - Moonburn
Caribou - Desiree
Panda Bear - Take Pills (Second possibility for Song of the Year)
MIA - Paper Planes (Third possibility for Song of the Year)
Animal Collective - Fireworks (The final possibility for Song of the Year)
Patton Oswalt - America Has Spoken

Yeah I'm at 35 songs now for my mix. Think I can get it to 20. Tunng's "Bullets' is gonna be on it even though it's on yours. Great tune.

I'll probably do a second mix next week. Too many tracks had to get cut.

Second disc of 2007 Best of...

Some other tracks from bands on the first disc, some other bands represented...it's more noisy, yet there's also more straight pop. Much more of an extreme mix, I guess.

Anyway, here's the link:

Mostly a bunch of stuff you've all heard before, but I listened to all this a bunch in 2007. I was surprised how much stuff I really liked that had to be cut to fit all on one CD with just a few seconds overburn. If I don't get lazy, a second more esoteric volume is planned with stuff like new tracks from Psychic TV, Thrill Kill Kult, Young Gods and things a bit more in that vein that I liked a bunch this year, but didn't get on here. Anyway, here's the link and the track list as it is...

http://www.sendspace.com/file/dvh1xc

1 Tick Tick Boom - The Hives
2 Icky Thump - White Stripes
3 Leave My Kitten Alone - Detroit Cobras
4 Sheena Is A Parasite - The Horrrors
5 Herculean - The Good, The Bad And The Queen
6 Inner City Violence - Tim Armstrong
7 Jah Love - Bad Brains
8 You're Gonna Leave - Stephen Marley
9 100 Days, 100 Nights - Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings
10 Back To Black - Amy Winehouse
11 UnBiloTitled - Babyshambles
12 Ruby - Kaiser Chiefs
13 Intervention - Arcade Fire
14 Fire It Up - Modest Mouse
15 Phantom Limb - The Shins
16 Myth Takes - !!!
17 North American Scum - LCD Soundsystem
18 Mer Du Japon - Air
19 DDD (Dirty Disco Dub) - The Orb
20 Warum - Pole
21 The Mouthchew - Stars of the Lid

Cool, thanks.

I wanted to put a Horrors song on my mix, but I couldn't really figure out where one could fit. As is, I think a couple of my songs are out of place.

Not sure mine all fit either, but I don't get too picky about it. I like the cover art on yours, by the way. I'm gonna spend a good deal of time tomorrow downloading a bunch of these, should keep me busy for a while.

Thanks. I pass that sign every time I go to the mall. All I had to do was add the 2007s.
