okay, finally had time to post some more info on Portland:

good music shops
I think most of them have already been mentioned-- Everyday Music, Music Millennium, Ozone, Django and Jackpot.

vintage stores
Red Light
Buffalo Exchange
Retread Threads
lots of good stuff at the Goodwill stores here

venues to check out shows
Doug Fir Lounge (newly opened)
Roseland Theater
Aladdin Theater
Crystal Ballroom
Berbati's Pan
Dante's

any "tourist" spots that's a must-see
have a drink at the bar in the Portland City Grill-- as long as it's not overcast (ha ha) you'll get a great view of the city
Visit a brewery... tons of them have free tours (i.e. free tasters). Try Widmer or Portland Brewing.
The Japanese Garden or the Chinese Classical Garden

restaurants
Salvador Molly's-- an all time favorite

Cha Cha Cha (for a killer cheap burrito)
Rose and Raindrop (decent food and if you like beer, a ton on tap)
Saburo or Yoko's for sushi
Pizzicato or Flying Pie for pizza
