I still like the album. Though, my opinion may have been influenced by the fact that I experienced them live prior to the album.

totally. and sometimes i see a bad live act and it ruins a good album.

I guess what i'm getting at is that they're getting a pass because classical and flamenco guitar is extremely dominated by males.

They're not earthshattering, they're pretty all right. But the speed thing? They're supposed to be fast, people shouldn't act shocked, especially when you can check out The Guitar Trip (John McLaughlin, Al DiMeola, and Paco DeLucia) who've been at it far longer, and are consequently much faster.

Oooh. Faster.

I think they've got potential though. It'll depend on whether or not they start to write interesting material or whether they rely on previously established genre conventions and technical facility.

I haven't really been exposed to anything like it before, so it's awesome to me.

All the latin music I've heard before either came in a Rodrigez movie, or was mariaci music blasting from the p.o.s. on the streets of Chicago.

Maybe you need to see them in person, BG. It's absolutely spectacular what Gabriela does with that guitar.

I appreciated them before I even saw any live material of theirs. It's a good, fun, different album. It's not trying to be any particular flavor of Spanish guitar. I don't know why people are trying to pigeonhole them into some particular style. It's just enjoyable music. Yes, there are "better" and "faster" guitarists out there, but I thought all of you hated that kind of thing, being all indie and crap like that where "better" and "faster" didn't matter. And, besides, I've managed to use them as a foot-in-door for other, wilder stuff with people I know - I've managed to get some people to check out Michael Hedges after they've listened to RyG via the "well, if you like this, you should check out ____" factor. Totally different styles of music, but for some reason when acoustic guitar is involved, people are willing to waive their culturally-imposed disdane for solo guitar.

But, yeah, as Phil mentioned, anyone digging RodGab should check out the three John McLaughlin, Al DiMeola, and Paco DeLucia albums - these guys are in a whole different league.

I found a couple of more tunes by them on eMusic on this Soundtrack:

http://www.emusic.com/album/Various-Art ... 47588.html

I haven't downloaded them, but will when my downloads refresh on Jan 22nd.

Those 2 tracks are on this album:
http://product.half.ebay.com/Re-Foc_W0Q ... 4QQtgZinfo
Which at $85, I can't afford.

I wish I were at home, so I could download this.

(I'm glad I saved some cash on my Best Buy gift card to snatch this up when the time comes.)

What is the release date?
