Hey all,

Right now these guys are on tour with Ambulance LTD I believe. Dr. Dog are friends with a band I work with in Philly called National Eye. Both are solid and worth checking out. Dr. Dog has an album coming out though in March or April though that I'd like to share out on soulseek. It is one of the better things I have heard recently. My name on slsk is puffer99. Add me to your list, and that album will be shared for anyone interested.

RIYL Beatles, lo-fi, Walkmen

Dr. Dog is a horrible enough name to keep me away.

I'd rather this discussion revolve around the music, and not something so petty. I'm trying to introduce you all to something that has yet been relatively unheard and I think has great potential, and all you can do is pick the band name apart and make allusions to the Beatles and the Walkmen being lame. Cool guys you must be. Download two tracks and least give it a chance before being such asses.

come on don't impugn the entire board because i'm being an asshat. it doesn't sound like something that i'd like and, let's be honest man, dr. dog? where were you for that meeting? terrible. that said, maybe post some of the mp3s instead of some vague suggestions of quality and maybe someone a bit more levelheaded than i will talk about it.

I'll post a website with samples when I get to work in an hour or so to make it easier.

Well, I never...

Anyway, don't get so testy. If you post a link to some of their mp3s, I'll give it a listen, but their name still sucks. One of the worst in my opinion.

I saw them open for MMJ and thoroughly enjoyed their set.
IMO, the mp3's on their site are somewhat lo-fi, average at best and considerably different than versions I saw live.
Yeah, the name sucks, but I'd go see 'em again.

that is all.

I mean, even Dr. Teeth and the Medicine band came up with cooler names than that. I just keep thinking about how my fragile youth happened upon paying for a Deadeye Dick CD...

I don't know what that has to do with Dr. Dog - must be a free-association type thing...

if i was still booking i'd book them. sounds really good.

but it's true the music sounds nothing like the name.
the name sounds like a terrible old man white boy blues band, and that's going to be a hard obstacle to over come (as proven by this thread)

Despite the terrible name, I am enjoying this as well. I see what you mean in your description Screech.

....now about that name

Not into the music, just not my style. Probably a big favorite of the "Swindon lot". The name is awful. However, your homage to"The Office" receives high marks.

i liked the first four songs i heard and it all kinda blended together after that. i've heard fantastic things about their live shows. the name is complete shit.

so a dr. dog mention is all it takes to lure the philly posters out of the woodwork? shit i shoulda thought of that.
