I met up with a buddy of mine over the weekend for the first time since before my B-Day in Nov. Anyway he gets me a sample case from Victory Brewing here in PA for my b-day present..I've had their beers before, and through they were alright, not something I could stand for a while, but not shit..In the sample pack he has a 6er of the Old Horizontal..This shit is kick ass..Barleywine style ale with a 10.5% content..2 of these and it's nighty night..Add some bong hits and it's over..Great stuff for a cold winter's night.

Sierra Nevada, so far. Plus leftover chili and Deer Hunter on Netflix.

I suspect I'll finish off the Maker's Mark when I get home.

I don't know what to expect of the flick, really. So far it's dreary and 70's-ish, and seems to be bulding towards something serious. I know exactly what to expect of the chili, however.

I watched, um, under a certain influence, years ago. That movie scares THE SHIT out of me.

One of the darkest mainstream movies I've ever seen. But also awesome. And Long.

Don't go into a chili coma.

Fredo has an underrated performance in that flick as well.

Half an hour in, and there's been two scenes involving guys smacking women in the face. guh. I can't take much shit like that.

I liked the Deerhunter. The wedding party scene reminds me of small town receptions around here in ethnic european communities.

I'm just finishing off what I didn't drink last night.

Deerhunter is likely the highlight of 'Dad's Inappropriate Family Video Rental Night' chez Way... I think I was 8 or 9.

You'll be longing for the scenes of women smacking soon enough.

Are you a big fan of barleywine style ale? If you are you should try Old Ruffian from Great Divide Brewing Company. I also like Young's Old Nick Barleywine, but it doesn't have the alcohol content of what your drinking nor that of the Old Ruffian.

I have cracked open a freshie and slid into a down sleeping bag, while still seated on the couch. I think this tops sweat pants in total comfort.

I'm drinking what I had left of the Rising Moon Spring Ale I had left and started thinking about Seasonal beers. I realize I like Winter brews the least, and Fall and Spring seasonals the best, with Summer beers being hit or miss.
What about everyone else?

Yeah, that and JFK warped my fragile little mind for a while. Both rate high in my favorites list. Haven't watched either the whole way through in probably 10 years.
