So...?
ahh..sorry i've either been sleeping or playing a very aggravating game of Zelda on Gamecube with my son(we're stuck on this musical wand part for the past half hour, it's pissing me off). We've now given up because I threatened to kill the dragon that was supposed to be helping us, much to my son's giggles.
Anyways, last night rocked in all senses of the word.
It was a sold out show and the Vic Theatre is pretty damn big so you can only imagine all the people there. What was cool was the place was completely filled for their opening set(which you don't always see a place filled for an opener, but they've been getting some local press on online mags and such so word of mouth is spreading).
And they played the best set ever. The sound there is amazing and the energy they displayed was unbelievable. And I was watching with Derek's wife and our friends Jake, Jolie and Denise. Denise and I kept turning around during the set to see people's reactions and it was awesome to see so many people totally getting into them. And after each song they were met with total applause from the sold out audience. It was unbelievable!! But they sounded sooooo damn good. Best ever.
Afterwards I overheard this couple behind us talking about how incredible they were and struck up a conversation with them and talked them into coming to the record release show.
Tweedy of course was wonderful. Very stoic. It was a benefit show for the Kawasaki Disease Research foundation(a very scary kids disease that their oldest son had problems with when he was younger, hence the benefit). He seemed very reserved the first half of the show but then became chattier as the show went on(as did parts of the audience, some people in front of us propelled a couple of us to confront them of their annoying behaviour- Jeff even made mention of how he prefers the audience singing along rather then all the conversations going around-ha). It was a two something hour set and if I tried to recall all the songs it would take me days. At one point he took requests from the audience and then promptly kept shooting down all the requests he did get. lol
We never got to meet Jeff, though I believe Derek did beforehand if I overheard him correctly. And Jeff did hang out and watch the guys during their Soundcheck. I think Josh met Sue his wife and their youngest son.
I had to gone to eat with our friends while the guys got their stuff together after tweedy ended and when they met us at the restaurant we were told of how as they were making their way to the backstage area Josh and Derek were accosted by a group of giggling 15 yr old girls who proclaimed their adoration of them and asked them for autographs which they(or just josh, don't know if derek did) complied. That and they kept geting told by people on their way out how great they did. Which rocks.
So it was a kickass and most wonderful night. I couldn't be prouder and happier for them.
And their album officially drops April 5th through Glorious Noise records and then with their distrib deal with Carrot Top, hopefully in many record stores too.
