Case in point, Joss Stone's "You Had Me"

I heard: "bugger and a packet of cigarettes was all you used to be to me"

Actual lyrics turned out to be: "vodka and a packet of cigarettes was all you used to do"

First ones are much better.

As a young lad, I heard Brain Adams' "Boys of Summer" thus:

I can tell you,
my love for you will still be strong
after the Poison
Summer has gone

Thought it gave him kind of an edge. I don't claim to have thought it through, but that's what I thought he said. Hell, I was like 8.

I liked "Caring is Creepy" better when I still thought Mercer was singing, "Oh, these fuckin' birds won't quit."

How dare you link the great Brian Adams to that garbage! That's Don Henley.

There's a song that we're doing in Red Plastic Buddah called "Over and Over". It's about the breakup of our last band. The line I heard was: "We can walk away with our halos still intact" When I told Tim how brilliant I thought that was, he let me know that was not what he is singing. Still don't know what the real line is, but fuck it... I'm taking that line for one of my own songs!

For the longest time after Wilco's YHF came out, in the song "poor places" I thought that instead of them singing "It's hot in the poor places tonight", that they were singing " and it's hot for the porpoises tonight".

I sang that for the longest time til I think Anderson pointed out to me my mistake.

I can't recall any for myself, but the first time my wife heard 'Remedy' by the Black Crowes, she asked me "why are they singing about lemonade?" Now everytime I hear that song, the chorus sounds like:

"Can..I..have...some...Lemon-ade...All I want is some lemonade!"

I was probably in high school before I realized the Bar-Kays were singing "Soulfinger" rather than "Malt Liquor". Somehow I heard it that was as a kid and it stuck.

(Richard Marx)

"I wanna know what love is,
I want you to blow me.
I wanna feel what love is,
I know you can blooow me"

- would've been SO much better if they really were the lyrics...

Jesus Christ man!!!

How dare you! That's not Richard Marx. It's Foreigner! Get your horrible 80's trivia right.

Seriously? Are you 100% sure?...(and I know you are)... damn, I'm just all over the road today.

Oh yeah, now that I think about it, it IS Forenner!

Dude you have officially blown over the 80s music trivia limit for one day.

Remember the following in case it comes up: Bruce Springsteen, not Rick Springfield released 'Born in the USA'

I have nothing to say in my defense, except that, unlike most foks here, I am actually working. Still, I know, it's no excuse. You gotta admit, though, that really sounds like Richard Marx, and I don't mean that as a compliment to Foreigner.

I'm.. gonna .... just go now.

When I was a kid I thought the lyrics to AC/DC's "Dirty Deeds" were:

"Dirty Jeans and the Thunder Jeep!"

I will redeem myself, somehow.

But how...

Play 'Photograph' really loud and all is forgiven.
