This thread is ridiculous, though I can't believe only one person responded to Dri's post.

edit: that picture has nothing to do with my answer.

Worked at a gay restaurant/piano bar, had a gay roomate, found a handful of guys to be vaguely attractive over the years, but never had any definite urges/proclivities/desires in that direction. No aversion to the concept but no interest either.

yep, this is one of the more inane threads. I was married, still love everything about women, but current pop-culture would identify me as gay, happily partnered for ober 10 years.

200, 600, 1500 years ago language, and the attached identities, wouldn't let this survey have meaning. Read your Kinsey... or the studies that show that men who take the most homophobic stances respond most erotically to pictures of naked men. Even the gay subculture plays a minstrel show for partial and corrosive societal acceptance. There was period in my life when all my partners were "straight" men. Alexandria Quartet lists 9 sexes. Most of us are three or four of them depending on our age, circumstance, and degree of innebriation.

Women are much more tuned into, honest about this than men. And I do like seeing two women....

I mean, I feel bad for OPA with as much gay-baiting and bashing goes on towards him here at Obner as it is, good humored or not...

I don't think these gay/straight threads are really that relevant/applicable, nor necessary...

Them's my two cents....

um, OPA draws attention to his sexual preference much more than anyone teases him about it. at the end of the day, it's all in fun.

jeez.....this board is so uptight sometimes, it's like a church function.

Why doesn't the survey have any option for "gay or bi and not in the closet"?

Do you assume everyone here is either straight or in the closet?
Me no get it.

It’s all in good fun and most threads aren’t necessary. I was wondering if this board was a bit more adventurous then the general public. I figured that a lot of people here would have experimented once in collage or something. The only way to find out is ask and so I did.

No, only into boys.

I just wanted to say that I was busy and therefore the lack of response on my part.

Ummm, once I made out with everyone at my friend's party...EVERYONE...Literally.

I should have made a box for making out and strap-on’s apparently.

Oh, and getting head from a dude DOES count.

I said this because of something that happened while living in San Francisco. My roommate came home one day with a flyer for a sex club where women would also be attending. He really wanted to go but I didn’t but convinced me anyways. It was four levels with all sorts of interesting rooms with house music blaring. The most interesting room was with a bunch of tents set up like a campground. No women in sight and like others have stated, have never been penetrated either. By the time I made it to the fourth floor and realize this, I was terrified and my roommate had disappeared. On our walk home we talked about the experience. I told him what happen, I found a chair, sat on it and mainly starred at the ground. I brushed off several advances and waited for my roommate to surface, so nothing and a big waste of money. He than told me that he let a guy go down on him but never got hard (right) and try to pretend that it was a women. He was saying that he could never go down on a guy ect. So because of this night I wanted to make sure everyone involved was into it.

San Francisco was such a tripy place to live and glad I did it.

Yeah, it could have been done better but I did say for the straight people of the board.

I adore females. I have no qualms about pretending to be gay with my friends or making suggestions but I can safely say I do not think I would be interested in any such experiences. I hate my own body, why would I be interested in another guy's?

I try to be as accepted as possible. I don't make jokes about people if they're actually gay. My manager at my record store is gay and I don't think twice about telling him "Your boyfriend called while you were gone." or find anything odd about saying it.

However, like most males, I must humblely admit that I find this:

There is much about this post that is inscrutable, but the parts I understand I disagree with. A lot of people try to claim the values of a past culture as establishing the long tradition of their own, but I think it's safe to guess that most of them are revising history a bit to fit their position. I'm not sure what cultures you are referring to that were so enlightened about gender roles 200, 600 and 1,500 years ago or what evidence you would point to about this, but to call the division between "gay" and "straight" inane when your view of gender is far less common and then to back it up by saying that other people thought so 600 years ago is unconvincing. People did a lot of things that didn't make any sense at all 1,500 years ago - the age of an idea says little of its worth.

I'll admit to not having read Kinsey, but I similarly reject that all straight men have repressed homosexual urges, largely because I am I straight man who does not. While I agree that the strongly polar sexual distinctions are somewhat arbitrary, I think that part of the reason for your perception that women are more openly attracted to one another sexually stems from an unfortunate cultural inducement to identify oneself strongly by one's sexuality. I think that in doing so, whether by needing to prove how straight you are by being homophobic or how gay you are by making every day Mardi Gras, we foster seriously damaged perspective on close platonic friendship. Instead of accepting the closeness and kinship to another human being that I think is one of the best reasons for living, the assumption creeps in that sexual attraction must play a role. I don't think this is a necessary or a good phenomenon, but I think it's prevalent in our strongly-typed society. I think that infinitely dividing gender roles fuels the fire, if only because it encourages the already (I think) unhealthy focus we are told to have on sexuality and our sexual identities to the point where we concentrate on little else about human companionship.

I dig chix.

I love guys too, but not in the biblical sense.

As far as love/sex/romance goes... whatever floats your boat and it's your short sweet life, so do what you gotta do.

Some people find one thing on the menu they can't help but ordering, and other people get the buffet.

I haven't found the straight girl buffet yet, or maybe the line's really long or something.
